Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The weekend of 9/10 it was packed, parking was very difficult as not much at the track or on road verge. The narrow pathways hard to navigate with so many people clogging the narrow track. It would be stunning if not for the crowd. We gave up in the end having only done half an hour.

We took a taxi van from our hotel in Lake Crackenback to Thredbo and undertook the 20k walk along the river. We crossed the river via suspension bridges on 5 occasions all the while being mindful of train bike riders. W@ell worthwhile.

It could be said (by me and others) that the Thredbo River track and including the Dead Horse Gap trail is the best scenic walk in Thredbo.
We walked this excellent marked and maintained trail which took us approximately 5 hours easy walk pace with heaps of stops for photos and just to admire the scenic beauty.
We walked down to the village via Merrits Nature trail -this is very steep and extremely challenging (down or up!).
Our advice take the chairlift.

There is not a lot of shade on this walk so make sure you have your drinking water and sunscreen on. There are spots that you can stop to cool off in the river along the way. The kids aged 10 and 7 completed this walk easily.

The golf end is much closer to the river, the other direction is mostly walking along a path. You can go over 4 suspension bridges at this end though.

We spent almost 3hrs along this track. It starts near golf course and it’s lovely hearing the running river as you walk along.
We then we took a detour up the cascade walk track (which leads to Dead Horse Gap) to see the waterfall. This was maybe 2km each way. This took us about an hour and was well worth the detour.
After backtracking we continued on riverside walk around to water tank and then started on Meadows Nature track. There was supposedly a really pretty bit early in through the trees but if we hit it we didn’t notice it much so then backtracked again.
Not sure where we went from there 😂 - across the connector track to golf course through some lodges and then hit the meadows nature track again near the BMX track.
It was all very nice walking around but if you only had a couple of hours I would suggest riverside walk onto cascade walk to waterfall and then return back the way you came.
Not arduous though it is a bit uphill to waterfall in spots.

A pleasant 4km (one way) walk along the river. The river was flowing quickly with plenty of white water.
We then went on to the Dead Horse Gap trail which is more challenging.
River walk is well worth doing.

Probally one of the easier walks but plenty to see, especially the river. Kids handled the walk no problem. Highly recommended

A fairly easy walk around the river and golf course. Some spots when you are going up hill are a bit harder, but should suit most fitness levels.
