we came across this amazing thai massage studio in byron bay by chance but we are so glad we did. we just happened to be eating at the vegetarian eatery downstaiirs and saw the sign. the shop is itself beautifuly attractive and very tranquii, and the japanese staff are so sweeet. the staff are all trained in the same massage school in chiang mai and the result is you feel relaxed healed and happy. we have had many massages in thailand but this ranked up there with some of the best, the vibe of the staff and the ambience of the salon gave it a unique and deeply nurturing feel. its in the main block before the main beach and is above cardamom pod vegetarian. they have a sign at the bottom of the arcade and we would highly recomend adding this experience to a trip to byron bay.

We visited Byron Herbal Thai massage on impulse, it was raining, they had a vacancy. What a lucky chance. I had one of the best massages I've ever had, and I'm a bit of a massage tragic. I opted for a Thai massage with oil and my husband had the regular Thai massage.

My massage was wonderful. The female masseuse (apologies for not knowing her name) had strong hands and good technique, which ironed out knots that I didn't even know existed. She used a combination of massage directly to skin and on top of the towel that was both relaxing and therapeutic. She also managed to cover all of the body, including feet and face. It was delicious.

My husband's massage was also good, with some unique moves applied to the side of the body. He had a good massage, but didn't rave as he's not the effusive type.

As the previous reviewer said the studio and the staff are very sweet and polite to deal with, which made the whole experience very pleasant. And at $65 for a one hour oil massage it was great value, one of the highlights of our Byron trip.

My husband and I both had a thai massage. We were both very pleased with this place, good pressure and therapists were sensitive to the pressure , and were asked what pressure we wanted. We have had many thai massages around the world and this was a very good standard. Can recommend this place.

After reading the reviews here I was expecting a lot more traditional Thai massage but maybe there has been a change of staff ?? The place wasn’t that clean, the music was disturbingly 1980s relaxation guitar rips and daggy classical which was unsettling and certainly not conducive to relaxing in 2017. We were given essential oils to choose from but the aroma was not present in the oil ultimately used of which they used lashings!! so it made it difficult to provide any grip for a strong massage which was requested on a number of occasions throughout. Despite asking for deep strong massage and stretching none of this was provided. Instead the key pressure points were missed and at times she was massaging bone not muscle. Just all wrong. I left more tense than when I walked in unfortunately.

I went here with my girlfriend and we both had a massage each. We paid $69 for an hours oil massage, and i wanted a deep tissue massage.
I get massages quite a lot around the place, and this would have to be one of the best. It was so relaxing, great pressure, and she knew what she was doing.

Well worth stopping in and having a relaxing hour whilst in Byron!

Thai Massage has permeated our culture much like sushi, and unfortunately, like many sushi bars, is usually not that great. It seems most Thai massage originates in Bangkok where a tourist oriented version is easy to teach and common in all hotels. The Wat Po buddhist monks in Bangkok teach a simplified version of Thai massage that lacks the sophisticated stretches and techniques of the Chiang Mai schools in the north.

The owner here has trained her Japanese staff in the traditional medicinal Chiang Mai style that is still rare in the world. It is a world class experience if you like deep stretching. Even in Thailand it is rare to get this quality of body treatment. If your body is not used to stretching they will modify the treatment to suit you

My practitioner was named Qoo and she is extremely sensitive so that going deep does not mean hard. It is an important distinction to keep the experience from being painful. I returned three times and each time it got better. The first was great and world class but as she learned my body she modified what she did and added stretches. I love deep spinal twists and she had some moves I have never experienced before.

Highly recommended.

Was given the choice of 3 oils for additional $5. Very much doubt it was used. Overall poor massage asked for firm massage but very little technique and little or no training or experience
