A great 13th century circular keep standing on an earlier Norman mound, atop a high spur beside the River Fowey. Twice visited by the Black Prince, it finally saw action during the Civil War. Commanding fantastic views, it makes an excellent picnic spot. Child friendly and dog friendly.

We visited this castle first thing when it opened and it was lovely to be the first people in there. We had the whole castle to ourselves for a while and it was very peaceful and nice to walk around. There’s not an awful lot...More

This was our second Castle visit using an Overseas Visitor Pass - proving to be a good deal for us. This is a very nice castle, good information boards throughout. A 13th Century Castle with Entry 5 Pounds 20 pence or free if member. 2328

What a fabulous castle - very interesting, fantastic views and lovely surroundings. The lady in the ticket office/shop was informative and helpful. Plenty of free parking and there are toilets halfway up to the castle if required.

Definitely worth a visit to this castle on the side of a hill with great views - although kinda in ruins you can still walk high up on the wall thanks to retrofitted steps - it is up a steep hill so would be hard...More

Have visited before. One of the most prettiest castles in Cornwall! A hidden beauty that not a huge amount of tourists know about which I think is really nice for the locals to explore in summer holidays and learn about it's English heritage. A lovely...More

This small castle was built more for show than defence although it played a part in guarding the crossing point of the River Fowey, below the castle. The castle is a ruin but you can still access the high level walk at the top of...More

Didn't know about this castle despite visiting the area many times. Only two other couples were around so it was nice and quiet. Great lady with two dogs in the ticket office; very happy and welcoming.

It would have been about £4 each but as we joined English Heritage that day, it was included in our membership fees.
