Stockport museum and Staircase House occupy the same group of buildings adjacent to the old market hall. We were made very welcome here by friendly staff but the biggest surprise was the size of both the house and then the museum, which when combined can...More

We had an hour to spare in Stockport before going on a pre-booked Robinson's brewery tour. We were advised that Staircase House would need more time than this, so we opted for the (free) Stockport Museum. This was spread over 4 floors with lots of...More

A very interesting small museum with both local Stockport history and a wealth of other interesting displays. The Staircase House which is in the same building, is the oldest property in Stockport, parts of which date to around 1450. A fascinating look at a very...More

We went primarily to visit the exhibition on Strawberry Studios but this museum is really very good in any case. The window from Stockport Sunday School just illustrates why museums are so important. The location is good as it encourages people to visit the rather...More

We were pelasantly surprised by the historical buildings around the museum and market hall. The museum is free to enter and spread over 4 compact floors. The highlight was undoubtably the temporary exhibition on the history of Strawberry Studios which we understand has been extended...More

Stockport story museum is joined on to staircase house and the information center. Staircase house is chargeable but the museum is free. It covers three floors and gives some insight into the past of Stockport. Some interesting things but not fantasic.
