- Debra HDallas, Pennsylvania16 contributionsMagical GardensHershey Gardens is an incredible place..magical. You walk along the paths and there are many benches in pretty places to sit and enjoy the scenery. Many of the plants are labeled and some of the Gardens are labeled also. They have a Children's Garden as well. We came at the perfect time in June. They have a Butterfly Atrium as well which is open all year long. We got the ticket package which included the Hershey Museum in downtown Hershey and saved on the admission price that way. Highly RecommendVisited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 July 2023
- Stina P6 contributionsMost beautiful garden in the Midwest! The Hershey Gardens was free for us to enter since we were staying at the Hershey Lodge. The Hershey Gardens is truly the most beautiful garden we have ever visited. So many beautiful roses and incredible trees. Perfect for all ages and for the entire family. There is even a butterfly exhibit.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 11 July 2023
- Lee LValhalla, New York1,920 contributionsButterfliesThis is a very nice place to visit if in the area. There are two parts that stand out. The various selections of roses are very nice to look at. Inside the Butterfly exhibit is fabulous as you walk thru with them fluttering all around you. The rest of the garden is a nice walk through but didn't really stand out.Visited June 2023Written 22 July 2023

Gardens were beautiful and well designed Butterfly sections was nice but not large at all. Some of the workers were so nice but one young person was to the point of rudeness (or maybe just a bad day). If you are used to a larger butterfly atrium, skip this one. - Pat GFurlong, Pennsylvania58 contributionsSpectacular roses plus moreWhat a gem! This garden was a very pleasant surprise set on the hill above Hersheypark. There were thousands (yes thousands) of spectacular rose bushes in bloom. Beyond the roses there was a lovely stroll through various gardens including a children’s garden that us seniors enjoyed. We visit many botanical gardens around the country and would recommend this to other garden lovers.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 August 2023
- CFRSun City, Arizona17 contributionsGREAT! Worth a visit anytimeWe visited Hershey Gardens in September. What a wonderful surprise to find the gardens in bloom throughout all the specialty garden areas including the rose beds, and different designer gardens. It was a warm day, but we enjoyed visiting among the hundreds of roses throughout the formal rose beds. We moved onto the the children's garden (which is not for children alone) to see beautiful varieties of flowers throughout. The Japanese garden had a small pond and lush trees, as did the surrounding area. The butterfly atrium is worth stopping by. You will see beautiful various butterflies fluttering around you and throughout the indoor garden. A photo opportunity well worth exploring. We we overwhelmed at how nice the gardens really are, and pleasantly surprised at their upkeep and breathtaking expanse. Much more than expected and well worth a visit.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 September 2023

Was worried because we got there about 2 1/2 hours before it closed but an hour to an hour and a half is the perfect amount of time for this place. The Butterfly area is neat, the other areas are small but the outside highlight is mums section which is nice.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 29 September 2023

- FF13Sykesville, Maryland2,001 contributionsA Wonderful Experience in the Butterfly AtriumWe visited the Hershey Gardens during our stay at the Hotel Hershey. Since the outside gardens were dormant for the season, we missed the roses and flowers but we did walk through the property. The interior was decorated with poinsettias for the holidays but the Christmas Tree room was beautifully decorated. We also entered the butterfly atrium inside the main building. This was excellent and friendly staff took time to provide explanations. There really were hundreds of assorted butterflies and flowers! A wonderful experience! Be prepared....the atrium is very warm and humid! Before we departed, we checked the cost of admission. The prices, even for seniors, are pretty steep. Luckily, admission to the gardens was included in our hotel package.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 December 2023

So friendly, interactive and interesting. He captured the attention of a 9 and 11 year old, that is tough to do. Truly made the experience for us!!! The Christmas tree display was nice and the outdoor gardens, despite the time of year was still enjoyable and peaceful to walk through.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 December 2023

We always get a yearly pass and we came to celebrate our Anniversary at the gardens. We thought the gardens would be decorated with lights due to the Christmas Tree Showcase. As you enter, the garland on the patio had no lights on it. We did walk through the Christmas Tree Showcase, but were disappointed that there were no trees done by children in the outside building as in the previous year. We walked over to the children's garden and hardly any effort was put into making that a magical place. There is so much that we envision (like a tree in the gazebo with the gazebo done in lights), that could make this a wonderful place for people to visit this time of year and there was nothing. It was just disappointing to say the least.

After doing the chocolate crowds, hop over to gardens for a bit of serenity. We enjoyed just sitting & taking in the ambiance. Incredible collection of roses.

Is there a special display beginning after Thanksgiving...for Christmas? Is so, when does it begin? After reading so many comments, I wish we would have used our tickets earlier in the spring or summer. Is there any chance we can extend the expiration date? Our tickets were a gift....and I di want to use them.

Yes, they do decorate a number of trees inside. I do not believe that they decorate the gardens but am not sure. I am sure the hotel will also be decorated as well.

How long would the garden interest children between around 8 years of age? Trying to decide if worth cost for 2 children and 2 adults

It would depend on what those children enjoy. There’s a children’s garden with musical interactive toys and several other things that encourage imaginative play.. There are some really cool weeping trees that are fun to play under and climb on. My grandchildren are a little younger (oldest is 7) but love being there—We always have to make them leave. The butterfly garden is also great for kids. And there’s lots of room to just run around outside. We can easily spend a couple of hours there. That’s when the weather is nice 😊. They sometimes have special children ‘s activities, which could also help.

No you can not. These are well maintained gardens so I don't think want to risk killing a plant or grass from dogs.
