Personally, I avoid riding Max anywhere east of 60th. Ave. And even then, I only ride during the busy times of the day (never at night). Just google "Trimet Max and crime" and you can get a general idea of the situation.

We rode the Red line from the airport to downtown and back to the airport. The service is inexpensive at $2.50 / person. But the trains are filthy. We use public transit all over the world, and these trains are dirty! We noticed lots of...More

We utilize the MAX when visiting our daughter & SIL in Portland--it's such an easy way to get downtown without having to worry about parking!

I commute regularly and prefer it to driving. It can be nice to just relax and read a book rather than fight traffic and pay for parking. I am a senior, so it is cheap! Delays from time to time and bums and other disreputables...More

It’s unbelievable how negligent the TriMet in Portland is in terms of hygiene. I’d never use it if I could, but unfortunately sometimes I need it. For $5 a day per person, TriMet can’t even spray those nasty smelling wagons every night to kill all...More

It was nice to check out how locals travel on this train. We took our family on it and it was nice to get from point A to point B but you still need to use a taxi/uber to get around thereafter.

To get from the airport downtown, don't rent a car. Simply take the Max right into Pioneer Square. Huge savings, half an hour ride, easy to negotiate, super simple to find at airport.

By far a delight on my trip was the use of the MAX. I stepped out of the airport and the train was there. A quick purchase for a ticket and off we went. 20 minutes or so later, I was picking my stop downtown....More

If you can, do rent a car to visit the gorge area. There are so many waterfalls to see, places to hike (short to long, easy to difficult), and views to enjoy.

I don't believe so. This is a city / suburban service. Eugene is almost 2hours south of Portland on I5.
