Gorgeous Place

Where else can you see 5 mountains like these all at once. Yes we got lucky and had clear skies. If it is foggy don't waste the trip. You can see Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainer, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson and Mt. Adams. If you have time and are in the area do this one.

Fantastic views!

This is really a Hidden Gem! From the viewing platform, which is a short 15 minute walk from the parking lot, but a decent gain in elevation, you can see five mountain peaks, the Columbia River, and the downtown Portland city lights. Unparalleled Beauty, especially at sunset! Bring binoculars and a camera, as well as windbreaker or jacket! Parking permit required!

Incredible 360 Degree View of 5 Mountains with Little Effort
Jul 2017 • Couples
Absolutely amazing 360 degree view of 5 mountains with little effort. A short detour if you are visiting the Columbia Gorge followed by a short moderately uphill walk and you feel like you are in heaven. Easily the the highlight of our trip to the Portland area. A real hidden gem.

Not too difficult to get to, drive to the car park at the top of the mountain then a short trail up to the top!

Don't miss this viewing opportunity

From Larch Mountain's Sherrard Point viewing area, you can (on a clear day) see 5 extinct Cascade Range volcanoes. You can clearly see Mt. Hood (22 miles away), Mt. St. Helens (46 miles), plus Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainer and Mt. Jefferson. I don't know where else you can get this view. From the parking lot, there are 125 steps to climb that gets you to 4056'. At the top, there are markers to indicate which mountain you are looking at, how far away it is, and how high that mountain is. This is truly worth the climb.

Great view, worth the drive
Aug 2017 • Family
Yes it is a bit of a drive to get there but you are rewarded with a nice little hike and great view. You can see three of the most famous volcanoes of the cascade range from this view point: Hood, St. Helens and Rainer. Only think keeping this from being 5/5 was the haze and smoke from fires in British Columbia.

Nice hike. Would be beautiful on clear days.
Jul 2017
It was a bit overcast the day we went so we could only see Mt Hood. But it would be nice to see all seven of the mountains for that spot. It was good to see the comparison of sizes in one spot.

Incredible Views of 5 Peaks
Jul 2017 • Family
The hike is short - really more of a walk. And the view at the top is breathtaking. However, there are no signs or maps so just be sure to to take the Sherrod Point trail and follow it straight - even though it looks like turning will take you higher.

You must visit the Sherrard Point for a five mountain 360 degrees view!
Jul 2017 • Family
The drive is not signposted but on a good road all the way - so you need a map or your GPS. From the parking lot there is a 20 minute easy walk to the Sherrard outlook point. Well worth the detour to se the five mountains in the area.
