We had heard how busy this trail could be so we made an effort to visit it in the off-season during the mid-week. We visited the Blue Pool on a Friday afternoon in early October during a period of light rain. And...we saw one person...More

Beautiful hike and amazing destination. Heavily trafficked so go early and on weekdays. Water is extremely cold, so don't plan to swim when you get there.

27 degrees year round and such a cool place. The river disappears upstream about two miles then comes back up at this unique blue pool. Beware hiking around and down to it - you need to be fairly fit and definitely steady on your feet....More

Give this trail a rest! Extremely crowded trail even on a weekday. It goes to a pretty blue pool that is very noisy and crowded. People treat it like a beach which takes away from its beauty. There are less busy places to hike that...More

Not an easy hike if you have bad ankles. Or if your out of shape. It starts off on a flat wonderful trail. But shortly after that it turns into uneven, unstable, rocky lava. Do NOT dive in the blue pool and be careful if...More

This short hike is definitely worth the drive from Sisters. The trail follows the McKenzie River through tall old growth Douglas fir. It is mostly shaded and cool even on a warm day. The last part is through lava rock, but then it opens up...More

We arrived at 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday. There were only half a dozen cars in the parking lot. The hike was gentle the entire way (2 miles), with the first mile following a nice trail along the MacKenzie River upstream. The second mile has...More

I joined 2 others for this hike on the McKenzie River Trail to Blue Pool on an overcast, but warm day. We started at the popular trailhead just off Hwy 126, above Trail Bridge Reservoir. The route follows the McKenzie River through mixed coniferous and...More

There are many hiking websites that offer reviews at varying times of year. I would suggest oregonhikers, org as a good place to start. You should be able to search for that trail to get an idea about typical November... More
