After nearly 18 months of anticipation, I just finished my trip to Bandon Dunes. Our rounds went as follows: Day 1 Preserve, Day 2 Bandon Trails & Bandon Dunes, Day 3 Bandon Dunes & Sheep Ranch, Day 4 Pacific Dunes & Sheep Ranch, Day 5 Old Mac and Pacific Dunes. While 9 rounds of golf seems untenable, we were grateful to have caddie Jimmy Heyn there to accompany us. Jimmy was the perfect balance of servant, coach and friend. He augmented the experience and I’d recommend him to anyone.

We stayed at the Inn and that worked well. The room was clean and comfortable. Food at McKee’s was good, but it got a little noisy. Food at The Forge was great, but we found it to be quite warm there and maybe a little pricey. Make sure to a get a hot pastrami at the Sheep Ranch; you’ll thank me later.

I’ve played/stayed at Whislting Straights, Streamsong, and many others and would definitely recommend a trip to Bandon Dunes. The quality and variety of golf is tough to match. Prepare carefully with the proper attire for a rang of weather and you’ll be fine.

Great breakfast even for a buffet! Limited choices in town and a local suggested going to the Dunes saying the food was good and very reasonable. It was - so happy we went out of way (10 minutes) for such a good experience and fun to sit in the bar and watch the golfers and the great view.

Played the Sheep Ranch on 6/14 on a beautiful day. I had played Bandon Dunes and Ocean Dunes years ago and had heard about Sheep Ranch when it was 13 holes and a coffee can. I called two days in advance and ask if they could fit me in. It was cool but sunny with standard 5 knt wind from NW. My caddy was Alicia , she was knowledgeable about the course routine and read the greens well, I learned to trust her reads. If you want to enjoy the round, score well and enjoy the day get a caddie like Alicia, With few distinct landmarks, some blind shots and complex routing I highly recommend one. The greens are uniform, not lighting fast but plenty of hills and vale’s. A very enjoyable place to take a seaside 8 mile walk. Prepare for any weather, be prepared to have your clubs put in a carry bag. Remember to transfer what you will need but not much extra. They have real gorse on these courses. Don’t grab it, or try to push it out of the way. If your ball goes in it it’s gone.

The golf itself was fabulous!!! Really beautiful and challenging. Accommodations were very nice. Not what i would call luxurious, but very beautiful and clean. Simple in an elegant way. Definitely way more men friend golf groups than girl friend golf groups. Because of that some menus, etc. reflect a more meat/hearty appetite, but don't get me wrong, there is something for everybody. This resort is not very easy to get to but treat yourself to this wonderful golf experience at least once in your golfing life.

For husbands birthday we treated ourselves to two rounds of golf at “The BAndon Dunes”
We had a great caddie.. Lucas.. who kept us heading in right direction. Since we are novice golfers the ball didn’t go where he suggested but a wonderful round on the Par 3 13 hole course (The Preserve). Next day in cold wind played BAndon Dunes course much more challenging but husband enjoyed with Lucas’s help again.

This is golf heaven on earth. Five 18 hole immaculate golf courses plus a 13 hole par three plus a free par three course. We stayed at the lodge overlooking the golf course. There are many restaurants within the resort the food was incredible every time we ate. Every single employee offered incredible service. If you are a dedicated golfer I cannot recommend this experience enough.

Great golf courses and incredible staff. But the food goes from average bar food to terrible. Dinners are not good at all. And the kitchen is slow. Food seems pre-prepared. Lots of heavy meat dishes.

If you have ever even thought about playing golf, you have to play here. It is coast golf at its best, anywhere. We did not stay at the resort as we have an rv. The staff was wonderful, the courses immaculate and for us, the weather was gorgeous!!

Terrific time with friends at very challenging courses. Played all four courses. Food at the resorts was very disappointing. Caddies were excellent, very good and poor.

Definitely a bucket list golf event. I've been to the Monterrey Peninsula, Whistling Straits, etc and this place topped them all. We played 72 holes in 3 days, so a lot of golf, and loved it. We used the pull carts they provided (opted not to use caddies) and I will say that playing 36 holes that way in one day was a little hard on the feet and knees, but the views and experience was well worth it. IMHO, Pacific Dunes is the best course, followed by Bandon Dunes, Old MacDonald and then Bandon Trails. Perhaps the most fun we had, though, was putting, drinking and betting at the PunchBowl - the largest putting green I've ever seen. Definitely set aside a few hours for that!
