The Penguin waterfront is delightful. A lovely tribute war memorial & library, the Giant Penguin statue making a fun photo op, the cute blue phone box that is the Penguin Library, and a nice beach access and paved walkway

What's not to live about this ?

FIND TIME FOR LUNCH HERE

Very nice town to stop at for Lunch. (Banjos Bakery is the BEST!) Lots of unusual Penguin stuff to look at. Also a Dr Who tardis!!
Try to be there on a Sunday for the BIG market - worth a look!

Lovely seaside town (despite the construction work)

Lovely spot, glad we stayed one night, worth it. Walked at night to see penguins - didn't see any except the large one! Playground and Dr Who library ...

“Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it’s a plan!”
Feb 2021
Penguin is just an incredibly beautiful seaside town... it feels inviting as you walk along the foreshore. There is seating carefully placed for all ages ... so if you need to sit under a tree, they have arranged for that... or on the edge of the water... or would you like to recline. They have been very diverse in their approach to making the area inviting for visitors.

Of course as you get out of the car, there is the eye catching Tardis along the foreshore. Never heard of the Tardis? Seriously is that possible... didn't everyone have to watch Dr Who as a child and see the villainous Daleks? They gave me nightmares... no really! They absolutely terrified me. However the Tardis being small on the outside and magically big inside appealed to my imagination.

But moving on... focus! Stay with me here... the foreshore area overlooks a pristine beach and it has cafes directly opposite. It's a great place to spend some time.

Watch Out For Penguin's

To be fair the foreshore was pretty average and the beach less than average but add the "Giant Plastic Penguin"and a nice sunny day and it was a pleasant quirky place and worth a stop

Penguin Tasmania self guided audio walk
Nov 2020
The community recently developed a 90 minute audio walk starting from the Big Penguin. The walk includes 28 of Penguin’s heritage and attractions. Each with images and a 30 sec narrative. We did it and found it's fun. Absolutely worth of doing. This also surprised us that a tiny town like Penguin has adopted tech so quickly.

Don't miss Penguin
Mar 2020
Penguin is just so lovely. We wish we were staying there. Don't miss it if you are on the north coast of Tasmania. And don't miss seeing the Penguin Uniting Church. A guide was leaving as I started to take photos of the exterior and she reopened the church to show us the great interior. You can find the Penguin Uniting Church online.

Absolutely beautiful
Mar 2020
This is one of the prettiest little towns and it just continues to improve. The beach is wonderful And it just continues to improve. Lots of little penguin things, a cute little book swap right on the foreshore. The are comfy seats, picnic areas and green grass. Good kids playground and right across the road lots of cafes and shops. Love it!!

Lovely little beachside area
Mar 2020 • Solo
One of the better beaches for this stretch of coastline.
Lots of little attractive "penguiny" touches as well as an opportunity to travel in the "tardis" which doubles as a free book exchange/ library!
