Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This little museum is fascinating - and tells you much of the story of this little town. Who would have thought one of the pioneers of the modern Olympics would hail from Shropshire.
The curator was very helpful and helped me in my quest for some obscure information about Much Wenlock. It was not too much trouble for him and that was lovely.

Excellent show this afternoon by a small group of extremely skilled horsemen and ladies at The Cavalier Centre. Something for the whole family. An immensely enjoyable afternoon/evening.
The weather was dreadful minus degrees but well worth the journey despite the temperature. Very entertaining and awesome performance. Well Done and Thank you.

Had a couple of hours in the lovely little medieval town of Much Wenlock and found this great museum/visitors' centre. Really interesting and great potted history of Much Wenlock. Definitely worth 1/2 hour of your time.

The best small museum I have been to in a long while. Well laid out. Thematic and chronological with just the right level of detail. Excellent focus on Olympian Society. Good used of space in free movement in a small area.

Popped in here last week whilst the wife and dog stayed outside enjoying the sun. Brilliant little museum. I pretty much skimmed round it as didn't want to leave them outside too long - But i could of stayed here a good hour at least. So much to see, look at, a range of topics from Geology, to Wenlock Edge, to the Olympian Society to the Priory - Very interesting, lots to look at and read plus audio play buttons which all seemed to work. This was a great find.

The originals of some unusual carvings from the Priory are on display here along with an intriguing carved figure from the Priory. This may be a Roman era figure associated with a water cult (there is a well nearby) or it may be Medieval. No one is certain!

If you want to get a feel for the heritage of Shropshire and in particular this historic town, you really should pop into this lovely museum whilst in Much Wenlock. It's free too, so even if you only have a few moments you can still pop in without feeling you have to stay too long.
There are some fascinating displays, particularly enjoyed the bronze age artefacts and the stories of crime and punishment in the town and local characters.
The shop has a good range of local books, and good for gifts to take home. There's also a mini-tourist information in the entrance hall, which has a good stock of "real" practical local info and details of hidden gems, rather than just the glossy overproduced stuff for expensive attractions which you usually get in tourist info places. The staff are also very helpful and knowledgeable.

If you have kids who are in any way interested in the Olympics (mine are obsessed) do the Olympic Trail the flyer can be picked up in the museum for free (though if you can make a donation) and there are both kids and adult versions. The trail took us on a lovely walk around the town including past the priory which we visited on the way.
I would also recommend spending a little while looking around the museum to find out more about the history of the area.

This museum is housed in what used to be Much Wenlock's cinema and is run by the local council. Entry is free a big plus point and it also incorporates the Tourist Information Centre where you can get town trails and leaflet for local attractions. Features The Wenlock Olympics.
