Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

These ruins cover quite a large area, and the free audio guide makes all the difference, as it helps you make sense of the place. The topiary has a couple of interesting shapes to look out, and the story of the geese is a nice extra. It is a shame that some of the buildings are not open to the public any more, as this would have made the visit much more worthwhile.
There are toilets on site, but you'll need to park a little down the road (£3 all day, but it means you can pop into Much Wenlock which really made the visit) and also into Much Wenlock to sit down for refreshments (but they have a coffee machine and shop with friendly employees if you want to take a drink around with you!)
Realistically the visit to Much Wenlock Priory will take you an hour, maybe a little less.

Visited the Priory today and was very impressed. Included in the ticket price you can use an audio guide which we did and we learnt lots about the priory......definitely worth using.
We spent a good 90 minutes walking round, listening to the audio guide and taking several photos
I would definitely recommend a visit if in the area.

You will find peace and history here. I liked it so much, and we were staying in Much Wenlock, that I actually went twice. I love ancient abbeys and ruins just like this. I too had read up on it before going so knew what to expect. Did it meet my expectations? Yes, it exceeded my expectations and I loved it. If you visit read the plaques placed around the site, they are well done and informative without feeling you have to read a wealth of information. It is concise and tells you the 'must' knows. And if you go with an open mind you will find it clears the mind walking around. Loved it and highly recommend it. It was a pleasure to visit.

We had originally planned to be based in Much Wenlock for 2 weeks but changed our base to Ironbridge instead. We visited for a day and thoroughly enjoyed the village.
The Priory is a wonderfully presented site detailing the history of worship on this site over the centuries

Beautiful ruins of a priory. Book online and you'll save a fair bit on the entrance price.
We went on a sunny day and the ruins looked spectacular! Lots of detail still there. Informative signs around the grounds. Very peaceful and relaxing. We sat for a while by the lavender watching the bees and admiring the topiary. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. Nice little shop too. Parking available at a cost, but we parked in the town itself for free on Sundays.

Really beautiful ruins of a priory. Incredible history dating back to 12th/13th Century. The village around it is beautiful too, nice cafes and independent shops. The site is an English Heritage sight (so free for Members - along with the car park). The onsite shop has some nice local items in it too.

What a peaceful, beautiful setting, fabulous views, beautiful tiles (especially the fish in the library). English Heritage staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the audio guide was included and great. Quite a lot remains, so you can start to imagine how the site looked in its heyday. Had no trouble parking, but can imagine it gets very busy in the summer. We shall return!

A beautiful and atmospheric ruin… the Chapter House is remarkable. Well worth using the free audio guide. Really excellent and informative. With a little imagination you can be transported back 800 years.. wonderful place to picnic too. Friendly knowledgeable staff.

We visited on a sunny day in June. There is a chargeable car park (free to English Heritage members) a short distance from the entrance to the site. There is a ramped approach to the small ticket office/shop. Outside the shop is a disabled toilet, whist to the rear of the shop are the main toilets access by a few low steps, these toilets were clean and in good order.
On our arrival we were greeted by a friendly and helpful lady. We were offered audio guides which really enhanced our visit. The simple to use audio guide explains about the history of the Priory and guides you around the site, but more than that it gives you information of the human story, e.g. the only time the monks could take a bath other than on a Sunday was 2 days before Christmas Day.
As you walk round the site you are mostly walking on grass. As it was a sunny day when we visited the grass was dry so this was not an issue. During wet weather with softer ground this might provide an obstacle to wheelchair users visiting all areas of the site. There were plenty of benches around the site for visitors to rest as they explored. There were a couple of picnic tables with great views of the Priory, which were occupied during our visit. There were a further two picnic tables near the shop.
Whilst I would strongly recommend the site for those with an interest in history there is little to attract younger children, so personally I wouldn't visit with the 5-10 years olds in my family.

Visited at the start of August.
+ The priory remains are quite impressive. The garden is nice and well maintained.
- There really isn't a need to spend more than half an hour here unless you bring alternative entertainment (e.g. picnic).
- For the price I don't think you really get your money's worth. It may be English Heritage and require lots of upkeep but you still need to give visitors something more for their money after potentially paying for: parking, entrance fee, additional donation and guide book or audio guide.
