Beautiful Bike Ride
Sep 2021 • Couples
Went around the red trail, was great fun for me and my gf, absolutely stunning scenery and only £8 to park over 2 hours to keep this beautiful place maintained. I can't complain.

Thanks for your review from the information you gave your review applies to The Forest Retreat which is provided for guest of Forest Lodges. It is not a review of Sherwood Pines Cafe near Go Ape.

Parking too expensive
Sep 2021 • Couples
Cafe and walks are okay and there is plenty of different walks through the park. The only issue is the parking. It’s too expensive if all you want to do is a quick walk and a coffee.

Thanks for taking the time to give Sherwood Pines a review. I’m sorry you feel that the car parking charges don’t offer good value. The charges are in line with other Forestry England forest centres across England and Sherwood Pines remains as popular with visitors as ever. You may want to consider a Delamere Forest membership which includes unlimited parking as well as other benefits.

The Great Outdoors
Sep 2021 • Family
Excellent facilities, clean and well maintained, great access to all the forest has to offer including cycle routes to suit all abilities, walking tracks, 5k, 10k marked running tracks and Go Ape, something for everyone of every age, staff friendly and very helpful, will definitely visit again, we went Tuesday to Saturday so not too busy, would avoid weekends and bank holidays as probably too busy for us but that’s our preference and choice

A Site to Behold.
Sep 2021
This site has it all.Excellent facilities, very clean and well maintained. Cycle routes of varying difficulties, well marked walkers' trails of varying lengths and a mixture of well planned activities ranging from Go Ape to Disc Golf and more. It's the place to stay if you have a Motorhome, caravan or tent having hard standings, grassy areas and electricity, dog washing facilities , playgrounds laundrette to name just a few. Everything has been thought through very carefully and beautifully executed. Can't stay over? No problem, just come for the day and enjoy this magnificent experience.

Great for kids
Aug 2021 • Family
Great for kids. Lots to do and keeps them occupied. We did the gruffalo trail and it was fantastic. We bought the £3.50 pack which included a workbook trail and some paper material to play with (sticker scene).
They loved walking and finding all the clues and the information on the different story.
There were a few playgrounds scattered around too to break it up a bit and burn some energy off.
Lots of clean facilities and many other options to do there.
Overall, a great natural environmental activity with a lot of fun.

Child friendly
Aug 2021 • Family
Had a lovely day, kids enjoyed the gruffalo trail, and the climbing frames dotted around the forest. They didn't even seem to notice the two spells of rain.
We were there for over six hours, so £8 for parking was very reasonable and goes towards the upkeep, so is a small price to pay for keeping the forest accessible.
The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that the loos were a bit grim.

Best Gruffalo Trail
Aug 2021 • Family
Lovely well managed Forest. It’s got a bike shop, cafe, Go Ape, Gruffalo trail and plenty of biking and walking trails. The gruffalo trail here is the best one we have been to , it all looked brand new. It was well laid out and easy to follow. The cafe had limited options but we managed to get something to eat. Parking is expensive at £8 for over 2 hours but it’s not bad for a day out. The bike shop is reasonably priced. The trails are good, well signposted and well maintained. We booked onto the nets adventure (part of Go Ape) and my 3 year old absolutely loved it. There’s also a park near it which he loved playing in. There’s another play area on the way through the gruffalo trail which has a sand pit and climbing frame. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return.

Amazing day in the forest
Jun 2021 • Family
We came here to do the Gruffalo trail with our 2 year old and had a fantastic time! The trail pack is only a couple of pound with a booklet, crayon and mask and claws, you don’t need the pack to do the trail but there are rubbings for children to complete at each character. The trail takes you on a lovely walk through the forest and crosses other trials so there is plenty to see and do. This was a spontaneous visit so that was all we had time to do that day but we’ll definitely be returning to hire bikes and do more trails!

Favourite trip summer 2021
Aug 2021
Wonderful day out, probably my favourite of summer 2021. The service at Sherwood Pines cycle hire was exceptional. We got 3 mountain bikes with a buggy attachment for my 2 year old and a tag on type attachment for our 6 year old. All bikes were pristine, no flaws and the bikes and attachments were expertly advised on and fitted for size and age. The staff know the routes well and advised us on family routes plus the tougher blue route which my 12 year old son did alone as I was tied up with the little one. So enjoyable all round. The surroundings are peaceful and the play area and cafe all better than you’d expect. Pricing, expensive but you don’t mind when you are getting such good service, exercise and experiences. £8 parking we will be paying on both days we are here, but it’s to go towards upkeep of the forest and there’s no entrance fee as such so it’s really for that not just parking. Our bikes for a family of 2 adults and 3 kids were £96 for 3 hours including helmets. We got full use out of them and didn’t feel rushed. You do have the option to pay for less time and add extra charges on when you drop them back. They keep your driving licence until you return the bikes. If we come again we’d probably bring a cool bag with supplies inside to keep costs down a bit.
