Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A gem of a find for Sunday Roast , they also have a weekday menu that looks very good. Went with 6 friends and we were well taken care of by Jo and her team. One of the best roasts I've had in Whitstable for a long time. Will be back .

If you don’t experience the unique ambience and the warmer than warm welcome from the beautiful twins who run the bar, or the lovely experienced manager, you have not experienced Whitstable. Incredible service, fast and efficient. Plus if you’re lucky you might get to meet some of the locals, we met the confused straight guy, lovely chat, confused but nice guy. Can’t wait to go back!

We popped in for a drink on a hot day but weren't able to stay long. We have a 2-year-old and a baby who has just started walking. The baby really needed to stretch her legs so we let her have a walk whilst holding her dad's hand. We adhered to social distancing and didn't go near anyone, but quite quickly we were told that the our children must stay seated. They're really well behaved quiet children, but how do you make a 2-year-old and a 12-month-old sit in their seats when they don't want to? We finished our drinks and left, which was a real shame.

A little concerned that I was ordering a Sunday Roast with no personal recommendation, and nobody already at tables eating - but it was earlyish, and the pub wasn't really that busy, so what to lose?

However, a reassuringly long delay (such that it wasn't a microwave meal) and I was presented with a piping hot, enormous plate of food.

I'd chosen chicken - and there on my plate was a whole 1/2 of a chicken....and,

A very "Irish" potatoes three ways (roast, mash, and baby boiled)

Plus cauliflower cheese, broccoli, peas, green beans, and carrots

AND stuffing, yorkshire pudding, and 1/2 a smoked sausage

Finally, a glutinous but not overbearing, gravy

It really was all unexpectedly fresh and tasty

No. I have no connections with the owners or the staff.

I rarely comment on TA, and even then usually only to complain.
But in this instance, I thought the kitchen staff deserved some praise.

Thoroughly recommended.

This place looks reasonable enough from the outside, but you only need to speak with a member of staff to know what’s coming. Ignorant, rude and lacking any personal skills. Customers sat at the bar loudly f*** this and f*** that. Staff quite happy with it. Couldn’t pour a Guinness. Customers and staff walking out and around the corner out of sight for a couple of minutes.

Nothing to entice us back here.

Ordered food. Got told it would be 20 mins as the chef had popped to the shop. After 25 minutes I asked in jest if he was back from the shop l, they said no so they would send someone to look for him. Its hard work entertaining a hungry 2 year old for 50 mins. Losers

The Sun was shining, and from my bar stool I watched the visitors strolling about.
With a cold beer, a delicious Sunday roast, I felt at peace and content. Looking around the pub, at the families, friends and solo (like me), I felt everyone was thinking the same. Lovely.

I’ve been meaning to come to the Albert for four months!
I came on a Wednesday evening with a friend. Good pint of Doombar. A friend and I played darts and chatted to the two staff Sam (lady) and Dan. All in all, a good drink, great staff and. Lovely pub.

Nice little pub. When we checked about food availability, having read the menu and seeing the signs outside, we were told there is no food, because the Landlady is away. When I mentioned about the signage stating food available, the reply was “ yeah, I forgot to bring them in”! They were still on show the next day!! The pub must have lost some trade!
