Gorgeous, smart little museum going back off the high street - it’s bigger than it looks. The Staff were so welcoming and engaging with our children. This is a good place to visit fir adults or kids of all ages. Small, quaint and beautifully presented local treasures.

What a great little museum, certainly gives larger museums a run for there money.A really diverse selection on display and a large area given over to Peter Cushing who was a local lad, please visit as soon as you can this place needs more recognition, the staff are very friendly and are genuinely pleased to see you,you won’t be disappointed

Only a small museum, but full of interest. A section on local celebrity Peter Cushing, of Hammer Films fame, which is excellent. Dressing up clothes for children. Archeological artifacts and the second steam engine built by Stephenson. There’s a lot more that my ageing brain has forgotten. Friendly, informative staff and a nice selection of books and pamphlets of local interest. Highly recommended.

Had a volunteer guide walk us round and fill in details, also has the second train (after The Rocket ) built by Robert Louis Stevenson in the museum which has a lovely history behind it, also lots of local history on show.
