Old part of Margate is full of art, retro clothing shops, retro furniture shops, cool cafes and restaurants, basically as the title suggests this is the cool side of town and well worth a visit

Some lovely independent food offers in this piece of the old town. More information points required though and external seating - to eat an ice cream, have a cup of tea and soak up the atmosphere

Some people claim that Margate is becoming hip or cool (again). I did not spot any hipness and coolness. It looks like nothing has changed since the 70s. Quite disappointing.

Atmospheric, reasonably priced food and stalls, on the spur of the moment entertainment provided by the public on a piano in the hall

Not everything in Margate is open, except for weekends until the end of July, which I found rather a shame.
