- GaddisGadaboutAtlanta, Georgia402 contributionsNot the whole deal. For the price, I found the food and fit a bit wanting. Nice building (with rooms) on the seafront. Dinner only for us. London hype brings an upscale set to a well done room and bar. There is a limited menu, which is fine, but they should crush what they do serve and the “rack” of lamb chops was chary & tough. Two courses each, bottle of white, 117 pounds. The front of house staff have slightly off putting airs about themselves. It’s Deal.Visited June 2023Written 1 July 2023
- 55BazLondon, United Kingdom14 contributionsGreat food. Mixed service.Beautiful place and the food is corking - really tasty flavours and genuinely interesting dishes, without being pointlessly OTT. Plus the cocktails were ace. Given this, then, it was a little disappointing that the service did not always match the cuisine. We booked a table as a bit of a treat for a birthday. We turned up on time, but when we came to order, were told by our waiter that we could not order anything from the snacks section of the menu unless we were ready to put the whole order through. (So we didn't, and stuck to starters when we were ready to make out choices). It rather took the shine off the meal, and was even more galling when 20 minutes later, the table next to us were allowed to order snacks before making their main choices. A real shame.Visited July 2023Written 16 July 2023
- Lauren CLondon, United Kingdom21 contributionsSmall, focused menu and delicious winesLovely food and they managed to fit us in at 8.45pm on a Friday night, when nearly everywhere else in Deal had closed for last orders. Thank you! Warm greeting, delicious food and lovely wine too. We ddn't have cocktails, but I've heard they're great as well, so maybe next time!Visited July 2023Written 17 July 2023

- Anor1960Oxford, United Kingdom48 contributionsSo disappointedWhat is the hype about? Have wanted to go here for ages, having read lots of good reviews, but was so disappointed. Went for a couple of nights with my daughter for a quick break. The room was not cheap and yet there was so much wrong with it - the plug in the sink was broken, there was nowhere to put your clothes (we had to store our cases under a chair and pull them out every time we wanted to get clothes out), the blinds in both the bathroom and bedroom were broken - I could go on, but I'm sure you get the gistVisited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 October 2023
- GFDinerKent, United Kingdom1 contributionGreat with Allergens - Perfect Night AwayWe stayed at The Rose on a Wednesday night and had the most perfect stay. From the moment I stepped through the front door, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. We were welcomed into Room Four, which is truly gorgeous. Pleasantly quirky and a perfectly deep bathtub. The room was well stocked with the basics plus some. The sweets were a great before dinner treat. We had dinner and drinks in the restaurant and being a gluten and nut free couple was no trouble. Thanks to Jason and the manager on duty for being so accommodating with dinner adapting certain dishes for us! After a restful night we had breakfast in the restaurant. Elliot took great care of us; again allergens were no problem! The gluten free bread was one of the best I’ve ever tasted (not your standard Genius loaf!) Just the night away we needed!Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 January 2024

Not impressed to be honest. Everything was very salty, not a reasonably hot temperature to eat, and the lionsmane mushrooms on toast contained no lionsmane. I understand that this might pass other diners by but it didn’t with our table. Waiter was very accommodating about the complaints and gave us a half of lager on the house. But it was too little too late. Felt thoroughly ripped off and completely unsatisfied when we left, but also weren’t convinced to stay to let them try and rectify matters

Unfortunately, the evening was spoilt by waiting staff stroking a dog, not washing their hands and serving our meal. There was also a dog sitting at the table of another customer. I'm not against dogs being in bars and eating places, but basic hygiene needs to be followed.

Me and my partner came to the Rose after living in Deal for several years and not having tried the food! We were very excited. My partner had the Rose burger and it came out bleeding except the edges. I know burgers can come this way sometimes but it put us both off our food and we would have liked the option of being asked how we wanted the burger cooked. I had chicken schnitzel was was effectively a huge slab of flavourless chicken with a tiny spoonful of coleslaw. No potatoes or greens or salad. The sight of a slab of beige food as big as my plate put me off too! Probably some of the worst food out we’ve had in Deal which was very disappointing. Decor and drinks were fine though and I’ve been in for a coffee during the day which was perfectly pleasant.

Went one Saturday afternoon had a beer and wine which was nice, paid cash.
Went the following week, unfriendly barman poured our drinks went to pay cash and was told “We don’t take cash”. When we said that we’d paid cash last week he replied “ Well we don’t anymore” No sign displaying this inside or out.
Won’t be returning.
