    Post Lunch Stroll
After having lunch in a local pub, me and my family decided to take a walk down the Deal Pier. The pier is lengthy and takes about five minutes to walk from one end to the other. Unfortunately, it was a misty day so we couldn’t see out to France, but it was nice and a pleasant stroll

    Simple pier with lovely views
Simple pier with lovely views of the town and the Channel. The last ever pier built in the UK rich Winston Churchill ordered after considerable was damage by the Germans. Excellent Deal Pier Kitchen awaits in a lovely building at the end, coffee and light snacks can also be obtained from a small hut for take-away.

    Brutalist Pier along Deal promenade
Deal Pier is a concrete structure along the town's promenade. Since 1838 there have been three piers at the site, the first was destroyed in a storm in 1857, the second pier was severely damaged by a mined Dutch ship in World War II. The current pier was opened in 1957, in 2008 a pier head was installed as well as a new restaurant. We visit the pier quite often and although it hasn't got the old world charm of a Victorian pier it is still a nice sight along the seafront. The pier is of brutalist style and is quite appealing and quirky. It is a great place for a relaxing stroll and to take in the views of the surrounding coastline. It is well worth a visit when in the Deal area.

My uncle is a member of the deal the Deal and walmer Angling Association, and he regularly fishes deal pier. When I am visiting in Kent, I like to get a days fishing in with him. That’s exactly what we did. We arrive just before opening at 08:00 till 17:00. Whilst not a lot of fish were caught I had five dogfish and one strap conger all returned. If you like, Fishing have a day on the Pier.. if you’re in Deal take a stroll along the pier. The strolling is free Fishing is priced per rod. The deal and warmer Angling Association are a friendly bunch of people and if you’re looking for a fishing club to join get in touch. I will without doubt be returning to deal and I will be Fishing the pier. One last thing, the council, staff man, the Pier are a great friendly and welcoming bunch.

The term ‘brutalist’ was coined by the pioneering modern architect and painter Le Corbusier who described ‘beton brut' which is ‘raw concrete’ in French. Deal pier is unashamedly brutalist and plain. To many locals and visitors it evokes a feeling of reliability and resolute strength. It offers walkers beautiful views of the English Channel, shipping and, occasionally, France. From the far end of the pier there are wonderful panoramic views of the town. The pier is clean and well maintained , stewarded by a Pier Master. Walkers and anglers using the pier are invariably friendly and helpful. The Deal Pier Kitchen at the end of the pier has an excellent menu including a cafe cabin for walkers who like to drink al fresco. I love it.

The pier is a simple old fashioned pier which is pleasant to walk and affords great views of the coastline. There are usually fishermen along the way and there is a nice kitchen at the end which is popular and has queues in peak season.

I love a stroll along Deal Pier - fantastic view of the beautiful seafront when you turn and look back towards land. Great to linger at the coffee hut at the end too in the shelter of the restaurant. Lovely coffee and snacks, even gluten free ones! Annoy the fishermen on the walk back by asking if they've caught anything...
