Parking is 3/4 mile away, free out of season but other wise pay.The walk is pretty flat most of the way with great views.Very interesting defence at the end of the island right by the lighthouse, also learn about rocket testing that took place here.

A lovely walk from the car park. The Old Battery was free to enter in January and had very few visitors. A nice view of the Needles from the cute tearoom

The needles are the two rocks of white stone being eroded by the sea. For years most of us didn't know that guns and cannon had been set up to help protect isle of Wight. There was passage ways made to get the troops in...More

From the car park they suggest its 3/4 of a mile. May be more but glorious views over the Solent as you stroll with no great effort towards the Battery. This has been restored brilliantly and whilst there may not be so much to see...More

It is only a ride on Bus 12 from Newport to this destination. The road begins by traveling country roads and lanes and then follows the coast all the way to Freshwater Bay and on to Alum Bay where the journey ends for my stop....More

Hi, I’m sorry that there was confusion about the charge for car parking for members. We have no National Trust car park for the Needles Old Battery and the nearest car park is owned and managed by the Needles Landmark Attraction. There was no discount...More

I have visited the Needles many times over the years, but surprisingly never the National Trust area before. We had an excellent snack meal and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the gun emplacements.

As I mentioned in my TripAdvisor review of The Needles themselves, I was rather disappointed about having to pay for everything here at The Needles, including into this, the old Battery. There's also a new Battery. If it wasn't £5 for parking, it was the...More

Closed Xmas/Boxing day, New Years Day, but only open weather permitting 10am to 4pm. Hoteliers will have more info, this is a bleak, windy location, £5 parking. We went mid September, good luck Xmas time.
