This charming, little thatched church was built in the early 20c, and is a lovely place to stop awhile and simply sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere inside it. The church is beautifully maintained and is a real gem.

We visited St Agnes Church in Freshwater whilst in the area, we had been meaning to visit since passing on a ‘Coastal Breezer’ bus trip which pointed it out as we passed by. The church is unique in that it is the only thatched example...More

This is a little gem located on the side of a hill in freshwater . It is known as the Thatched Church. Inside it is beautifully presented with lovely flowers. Each seat has a lovely decorated kneeler each describing an event. Well worth a visit

This is a beautiful Edwardian church, built on land given by Tennyson's son. It is the only thatched church on the IOW. Inside the overall impression is wood everywhere and if you stop to look there are some beautiful carvings. Some of the stone used...More

This building really catches the eye as you drive through Freshwater because of the thatched roof, quite a common building material in I OW, but rare in some regions of UK and very unusual for a church. From the construction you'd expect its really old,...More

If you like to go into churches, which we do, this is a good one. It is beautifully made. Although it is not a very old church by English standards (dating from the early 1900s), it is still worth seeing.

This is the church with the thatched roof. It’s very quaint. It’s right on the road so that’s where you’ll have to park which could be a problem when it’s busy.

Sadly, we did not have the time to visit inside the church, but we were drawn by the unusual and will certainly return on our next visit to Dimbola which is nearby. Interestingly, the land on which the church stands was given by the son...More

Parking is on the road and there is a bus stop close by. There are steps for access. It certainly has "curb appeal" and is very pretty with its unusual thatched roof. It was opened in 1908 although the style inside mimics churches of an...More

A nice place to visit when driving from Freshwater Bay to The Needles. This church is much more recent than most churches on the island, it's also much brighter inside and has lovely views over pastures green. There is plenty enough parking space on the...More
