If you ever want to feel you are in a movie - go to Woodchester! The whole place feels like a film set, and is tucked away down a very long track. Not surprised to learn that Dracula films have been made here, and there...More

As Woodchester Mansion is only open to the public at certain times, I recently visited for only the second time - despite having lived in the area for 35 years! It is certainly unique as stately homes go, in that the building was was never...More

Lovely walk down to this house through woodland on a good path (Note for those not so fit, it’s quite long) . The house is magnificent with fine details. The volunteers who have restored it have done so very sympathetically and have uncovered many fine...More

Thoroughly enjoyed the visit here. I have been round many mansions. This is different in that the exterior was finished but the workmen downed tools (still there, as is some original wood scaffolding) and it was never finished. This makes it unique. Would recommend you...More

This is a very unusual place in that it is incomplete and apparently will never be completed now that the owner has died. It is a very over-ambitious project undertaken by someone with grandiose ideas but not enough money to see them through. Our guide...More

Really beautiful place, not what you’d expect, but well worth a visit. We’ll sign posted, but drive slowly as you near the turning, the sign might be well hidden

We were just visiting Stroud for the day, and came here as a last minute change of plan because of the wet weather. We weren't disappointed. I have visited lots of furnished mansions and stately homes, and lots of ruined buildings. But this was unique...More

Woodchester mansion is not open often so check the website. It is well worth a visit when open. You can explore four floors and see the craftsmanship of stonemasons of the day. The owners ran out of money and the house was never finished. It...More

The post code to woodchester mansion is GL10 3TS some satnavs don’t like the postcode and can take you down a narrow lane to a private road so the maps on your mobile phone maybe more accurate.
