The oldest pub in Manningtree is still a traditional pub with a great selection of real local ales, an open fire, comfy chesterfield sofas, homely surroundings, friendly locals and staff. A unique take on food with customers bringing their own with...more

While I've been to Manningtree quite a few times I haven't been to the Red Lion before. A nice pub, with good beers and a pleasant atmosphere. Allowing takeaway to be eaten inside is an unusual feature and quite a good one. I expect I...More

Always good beer. Often busy, never deserted (whenever I have been there). No food served, but you are encouraged to bring in your takeaway - they’ll do the washing up!

It’s a lovely cosy pub - with a great selection of beers and good wine. You get to bring your own food if you want and they give you plates and cutlery. No loud music, nice wooden floors. Very chilled, and has character in abundance.

We visited with 9 people from The Netherlands and had a couple of hours of fun. Nice decoration, espescially the mens bathroom! Nice garden in the back. They don’t have a kitchen, but food can easily be delivered by take-away ;)

This pub states that it is a real pub with good beer and wine etc etc. What a shame then that children are allowed to run around and generally be shouty. Pubs are not playgrounds; they should be a place where adults can relax and...More

Always enjoy popping in for drinks as a lovely friendly pub but not all of us carry much cash and do find it a bit of a cheek to charge customers for using a debit card. Don't recall your sister pub The Nelson charging.
