We walked just a short distance ( 50m) down the river and watched a platypus play for 25 minutes. It was easy to take great photos from the river bank. We were there at about 3pm

Locals have a special viewing spot . They will reveal over coffee.Wasnt patient or lucky enough to spot one. Apparently you have to sit for at least 15 minutes to notice signs of these little creatures.

We had decided not to visit the Australian Platypus Park. At this place, Platypus Viewing Platform, humans had often seen Platypus. We headed to the river and waled quietly through the forest. Funny, we constantly found fake platypus. They looked like there was a platypus,...More

Non commercial viewing area. Walk along the creek. Nice setting but no guarantee of seeing any platypus. No luck at 6pm.

- Better to go at evening just before dusk - Don't only stop in the viewing platform, follow the path beside the river (going bellow the bridge) - Pay attention to bubbles in the surface. That's the prelude of a platypus coming to the surface...More

Fascinating, complicated creatures. Lots of interesting information provided and much to be amazed about. It’s best to visit in the morning or evening as they tend to burrow during the full heat of the day.

We were told the platypus viewing platform is a must when visiting Yungaburra. We went to the platform and were delighted to see a platypus swimming around. We sat there stunned. We then started in the Peterson Creek walk and came across more platypus. They...More

To see a platypus in the wild was on my bucket list. We parked in the car park and walked over the bridge and the path curls down under the bridge. We immediately saw bubbles and rings on the surface of the water. We sat...More

We decided to walk along the creek and sat and waited patiently a bit before the suspended bridge. We got there at 5 but didn't see any platypus until 6pm. There it was, swimming towards the direction of the road along the river. We scared...More

We didn't think we would get to see a platypus, let alone two of them at 1pm, considering mornings and late afternoon are their preferable feeding times. If you don't see them from the viewing platform, walk over the bridge and down the pathway under...More
