We went to the platypus platform hoping to see some platypus in the wild. We had luck seeing two. They are much smaller than I expected and very skittish. Keep you phone on silent and try not to make any noise.

We stopped at the platform just on dusk but didn't see anything, but decided to go for a walk along the river and were eventually rewarded by seeing several platypus at different locations. It was awesome to see them in the wild.

Obviously wildlife doesn’t appear to order or arrive at certain times but we were lucky enough to see the gorgeous creatures up close and personal for nearly an hour. They didn’t seem to be bothered by the small crowd gathered to see them - they...More

Took my relatives from Switzerland to see the platypus in Yungaburra. We arrived just after 3pm,saw 2 platypus along the river (5-10 minute walk under the bridge). We also happened to see a tree kangaroo high up in the tree tops. It was spectacular.

We initially arrived at 4pm and waited/watched for 20-30 minutes before deciding to return at dusk (after food). Returning around 5:45pm we initially watched from the viewing platform, after about 10 minutes one of our group moved away from the platform(crossed the river via the...More

We walked just a short distance ( 50m) down the river and watched a platypus play for 25 minutes. It was easy to take great photos from the river bank. We were there at about 3pm

Locals have a special viewing spot . They will reveal over coffee.Wasnt patient or lucky enough to spot one. Apparently you have to sit for at least 15 minutes to notice signs of these little creatures.

We had decided not to visit the Australian Platypus Park. At this place, Platypus Viewing Platform, humans had often seen Platypus. We headed to the river and waled quietly through the forest. Funny, we constantly found fake platypus. They looked like there was a platypus,...More

Non commercial viewing area. Walk along the creek. Nice setting but no guarantee of seeing any platypus. No luck at 6pm.

- Better to go at evening just before dusk - Don't only stop in the viewing platform, follow the path beside the river (going bellow the bridge) - Pay attention to bubbles in the surface. That's the prelude of a platypus coming to the surface...More
