Both are part of the Hypiamee park. From the parking these are two walks, partly over the same track. With a wheelchair you can probably reach the crater, but the less intresting waterfall will be a challenge (bot advised). Climbing down to the falls is...More

A VERY popular tourist destination and for good reason. To avoid crowded paths etc and to have a better chance of a Cassowary encounter, try to visit early or late in the day.

We started hiking. We saw a river next to us. I was admiring the trees. Some of them were different, like they were turning around. We arrived at the lookout, surrounded by mountains and trees. It was gorgeous! There is a hole in the ground...More

It’s a huge crater made due to volcanic gas release long time ago. Pretty far down from the look out. Very cool. Also close to the crater is Dinner falls. Small waterfall with a little pool.

Hypipamee crater is a leftover gas vent from a nearby volcanic eruption some time ago. The crater is neatly 100 m deep and about 60 m in diameter. Interpretive boards at the lookout give very full details. It is a most impressive monument to Mother...More

The Hypipamee Crater is the remains of a gas vent from a nearby (now extinct) volcano. Basically, it is an impressively big hole in the ground with a lake at the bottom. It is an easy walk from the car park. There is also a...More
