About
Take a walk in the clouds in Wooroonooran National Park just 15 minutes out of Innisfail. Elevated walkways, a cantilever, and observation tower offer visitors the exhilarating experience of being high in the rainforest canopy, along with providing spectacular panoramic views of World Heritage rainforest landscapes. The Mamu Tropical Skywalk allows visitors to explore the rainforest from the forest floor to the canopy, in comfort and safety. The Skywalk passes through one of the largest-remaining continuous stands of complex vine forest on basalt soils in the Wet Tropics. Enjoy close-up views of rainforest plants, insects and birds, and take in sweeping vistas. Information signs tell of the rainforest's complex web of life and the rich culture and history of the area.

Spectacular views and world heritage listed rainforest to wander through. Highly recommended experience as you walk through at both ground level and on boardwalks through the canopy. Has the highest free standing tower in Australia to view the surrounding mountain ranges, rivers and rainforest. Self guiding audio commentary comes with the entry fee. Audio also tells of the history of the area and how the park was created. Guide book lists the flora and fauna which is sign posted throughout. Suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Take your time and rest on supplied park benches if you need to.

The staff and are very friendly upon arrival at this well designed sky walk. We had downloaded the app prior to our arrival as recommended by other travellers. This was a great tip as the WIFI in the rainforest is a bit hit and miss.
We had a great time with not many interactions with other visitors, which made it feel like we had the place to ourselves. The interactive guide was interesting and informative.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area or visiting nearby.

I'll be honest, this place wasn't for me. And unless you're into Ecology or never walked on a Skywalk before I wouldn't recommend it either.
I think it's over priced and it's just a bushwalk on private land (hence the entrance fee).
If you're solely going because (like me) you thought the focus would be more on the skywalk itself with wonderful views, don't. Your only view is at the end, on the tower. I will say it's exactly 100 stairs to the top and yes I counted them lol
Apart from the tower, it's all wheelchair accessible. Obviously don't go if you're scared of heights or even if you don't like see through stairs as 'the steps are like a grill like structure (see pics).
I was there an hour 20 and that was including a toilet trip, a chat with 2 staff members Claire & I've forgotten the other ladies name sorry (both lovely) and a few stops for photos. If you are a Flora and Fauna then this is the place for you.
You might be lucky enough to see the resident Cassowary.

I think if you don't carry and listen to the audio guide, it will be a very short walk and visit. There are clear cues for what to do with the audio guide along the way, so easy to use, and listened to lots of interesting information and stories.
Great location to take lots of pictures, especially at the top of the largest tower which has exceptional views! We didn't see much wildlife, but the noises from all the birds and insects was great to listen to amongst the audio guide. Lots of information boards to read. But i can imagine if it was a family visit with children, it's not the most interactive visit.
The staff were very friendly too, and at the reception there is a little variety of refreshments like drinks and ice cream.
We did the combo ticket with our visit to Paronella Park too.

The wife and I visited this attraction just after its inaugural launch, there was much fanfare and excitement from the locals. Here was a unique way to witness the rain forest from atop the canopy, via a risen platform strategically engineered to minimise any impact on the rain forest floor or surrounding trees. As well as the platform, there is a couple of watchtowers, which strong stomached individuals can attempt to climb, to obtain an even better view of the Johnstone River Gorge, and surrounding forests and hills. This attraction is family friendly, and the tracks are reasonably accessible (Wheel chairs and prams can be navigated around with reasonable ease).

The facilities are excellent, and you really are immersed in the forest. The interpretive signage is well positioned and informative. The only issue I have is that it's purely a botanical experience. You're essentially paying to walk through a national park, and there's no sign of animal life, insects not withstanding. It's probably not unreasonably priced but feels slightly underwhelming in terms of value. Maybe they could ethically enclose an animal or two..

Easy to enter, even for those in a wheelchair, and all paths are accessible on more or less level ground. The elevated walkways start at ground level and reach out over steeply descending hillside, affording spectacular views directly into the canopy. A smartphone app, downloadable on site, gives a spoken narration as you walk around the site.
More labelling of plants, big and small, would be helpful.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. Use the toilet before you start the walk!

For most of our visit there were torrential downpours and low lying mist but we made the most of our time here. The paths were well signed and very well maintained. We enjoyed the lookouts although we could not see too much, but we did get short glimpses of the river. We saw quite a lot of different fungi, vegetation, several birds when the rain cleared for a short while and the highlight a praying mantis.

What a wonderful place! We arrived here at the end of the day and weren’t sure whether we had the energy to go in. Very glad we did, it was beautiful. It was raining and it was kind of cool to be in the rainforest in the rain. We did the guided audio tour, something I never do as I don’t like them and feel they can take away from the ambiance of a site. However, this was different it added to the ambiance with excellent information I would have missed out on. Because it was raining and there was mist in the gorge we did not have the spectacular views but the mist was enchanting in itself and added a mystery to what was below.

I almost didn’t go to this attraction after reading a negative review about the cost not being worth it, however, I really enjoyed it. It is a little overpriced but I’m very glad I went. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great and visibility was limited but I still enjoyed it.

Thank you for your question.
The two largest mountains you can see from the Observation Tower are Mt Bartle Frere (the highest mountain in Queensland) and Mt Bellenden Ker (the second highest!).

Hello
Is there any bus that makes the connection between Cairns and Mamu Tropical Skywalk and between Mamu Tropical Skywalk and Mission beach ?
Thank you for your help!

Hello,
There isn't currently a direct bus transfer between Cairns, the Mamu Tropical Skywalk, and Mission Beach.
There are however some bus tours that depart Cairns and include the Mamu Tropical Skywalk in their itinerary.
Links are not permitted here, but you can look up GTS Cairns, or Cairns Tablelands Tours, to see if the services they provide are of use to you.
Hope this information helps!
