Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have been the island a half dozen times and still find the little wallabies mesmerising. We pack some sweet potato slices and get there are sunrise to scatter them around amongst the mob. It it pure joy for the kids. They want to be there every day of our visits.

The rock wallabies are nearby, and that is the landmark thing to do on this island! You can buy wallaby food/pellets at the newsagent, but I think they prefer fresh vegetables like carrot or fruit like apples. There are some foods that you are discouraged from bringing because they don't have any nutritious value, however I do not recall what (perhaps lettuce). I brought some carrot and cut it up into small pieces, and they were eating straight out of my hand! I even saw a couple that had babies in their pouches, which was absolutely, cavity-inducingly adorable. Also had a nice time walking along the rocks. It can get quite hot, however, especially during the summer time and with the sun shining, so bringing sunscreen and a hat is good.
The beach itself is pretty for walks, although to swim you need to go out far because it is very shallow. A pretty beach though!

This Beach was a stroll from our accommodation and is really beautiful. There are BBQs there that were always pristine clean. A great walk up towards Nelly's Bay with exercise equipment to use opposite the beach. Snorkling here was so very easy to do. The other end at the old boat ramp was where the Rock Wallabies are fed and they are so cute and so many of them. Buses were on time every day. Great local friendly feeling! Loved Geoffrey Bay.

Just Awesome. The Rock Wallabies are just so cute and many are friendly and come right up to you. We purchased a little bag of wallaby food pellets from the local wildlife park before we went and we had enough left over to return again the next day.
The views around there are beautiful too.

Best snorkeling trail on the island. I saw a baby seahorse and my buddy saw a huge unicorn fish up close. Very healthy little reef. Good colour and lots of different fish to see. Well worth it on a calm day the water is nice and clear.

Great spot at just before dusk to see the rock wallabies. Disappointing to see so much “food” on the rocks including the food that should not be feed to them despite the signs. Picturesque spot with massive rocks looking out to Townsville.

Probably one of the best place to meet the rock wallabies in Magnetic Island at the end of where the old jetty was. Best early in the morning or sunset. Some interesting rock formations, including the famous rock arch!

Walked from Nelly Bay to Geoffrey bay along the new coastal walkway. Very pleasant walk and got to see a stingray casually swimming along following us. Worth a visit.

Feed the rock wallabies , they come up to you and eat out of your hand , go early morning or late afternoon as it’s not to hot, take some carrots or apples with you , they are NOT to be fed bread, great way to spend afternoon and see the sunset

The rock wallabies completely made my trip to magnetic island.
We didn’t know where to find them at first but if you get dropped off at the bus stop for Geoffrey bay, start walking towards the beach and just before you will see a turn off on the left hand side which looks like a dirt track and follow it round and you will soon see them, accessible via car, scooter, by foot, wheel chair and prams accessible!
We went at 16:30pm and there was loads, we got speaking to a local fella who said the later you go the better as they don’t like the warmth however it isn’t a lit area so take sunset time into consideration.
Take some carrots and apples already chopped up ready to feed them as the newsagent no longer sells food for them.
One of the wallabies had a baby in her pouch (please see photo) and genuinely wouldn’t let go of my hand, every time I tried to move it away she grabbed tighter, absolutely melted my heart.
Apart from that there isn’t much going on in Geoffrey bay.

Yes they are timid, there is sometimes an elderly gent in a motorised wheelchair giving away seeds to feed them.
Plenty of photo opportunities
Looking at the bay it’s on the left hand side in front of the pub, walk down the roadway past the boat ramp and your there.
