Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

.This a surprising circuit we dit it to Mount Yabi to Mount Baldy and back . Approximately 8.3km.
Our sad crew was lead by my goat like son 13 and my nimble daughter 15, Myself and my wife were leading the rear 54 and 44 respectively.
It took us 2hrs and 45 minutes at a leisurely pace. Some tough terrain and harsh words .We encountered . green tree snake which skittered across our path between Yabi and Baldy which caused a near heart attack for me.
Our supplies consisted of four cans of pop, liquorice all sorts, Werthers Originals, and gooey stuff the kids eat I think is made from cows knees.
From our delicious supplies you may have guessed we are pommies lived here 12 years and this was the first attempt at the Baldy Yabi circuit.
We survived and loved it especially the sweets.
Was rather dismayed when I was overtaken by a 70 year old jogging down th e descent to the carpark, but hey he’s 70 and I’m 54.

I’d done Mount Baldy up and back on its own previously & this time tackled the longer 8.5km loop starting at Yabi car park & heading up up to Yabi Mountain and along the ridge to Mount Baldy & back down. It took just under 3 hours including water breaks & stops at each summit.

To be honest it’s better than doing Baldy on it’s own as you enjoy a walk through the rainforest from Yabi to Baldy and the walk is more gradual & less strenuous in terms of uphill. You also get to enjoy some great views from both peaks and feel like you’ve really accomplished something. The diversity of landscape is impressive with open bush land, dry savannah & rainforest all on one walk. There is also an abundance of bird life - I saw an amazing black finch like bird with a blood red breast near Yabi Mountain which I’ve never seen anywhere else before.

Hint: take lots of water and watch out for the regular signs which direct you where to go. For the Yabi/Baldy circuit make sure to start from the first car park just off Rifle Range Rd (this is the Yabi car park, the Baldy car park is a few hundred metres down the road).

This difficult walk to the 1017 m summit (above sea level) of Mount Baldy offers generous views of the Atherton Tableland and Lake Tinaroo. The walk is strenuous with steep sections and loose rock. Only fit and experienced walkers should attempt this track. The walking track ends at the summit and walkers can either return the way they came or continue onto Widow Makers hill (another 3 to 4 km).

Mount Baldy walking track, Baldy Mountain Forest Reserve (Grade: 4)
Distance: 4.3 km return
Time: allow 2.5 hrs walking time

The walk itself offered a very challenging climb to the summit. Once atop the view appeared to be worth the climb allowing one of the best views of the tablelands. Whilst there, the pathway was being resurfaced, ensuring for future walkers a more pleasant hike.

I wanted a good workout and this certainly gives it! 300m climb over 2.2km. Some good steep sections of trail.

The walk up Mt Baldy was testing but doable if you had frequent stops. The best part was the track from here off to Mt Yabi which was a delightful stroll through the rain forest and downhill to the car park. About 7 km in all, with a lot of bird life and even a couple of ground orchids in flower.

Make sure you there are clear sky's to be rewarded with the views before you attempt to make it to the summit. Not as appealing the 2nd time around unless you are a fitness enthusiast. Bring plenty of water. Would not journey up a 3rd time unless showing someone else.

Fantastic hike up the mountain, most very well landscaped and steps leading up. Under a little construction and not for the faint hearted, the walk seems to go forever. With many photo worthy views on the way up you will be well pleased with the view when you reach the summit and can also sign the visitor book.

This walk will take around two hours up and back from the carpark, and is mostly quite steep.
There is a well worn track and good signposts with precast concrete steps in the steepest parts.
After a short walk through the forest, the track heads off steeply up the hill and remains steep for most of the way apart from a couple of short plateaus. There is a visitors book at the summit you can sign, but since many of the hikers are locals, it does not reflect the popularity of the walk.
For those that are more adventurous there is a circuit track that winds back via another peak.

This is a popular walking track on the outskirts of Atherton. It's a reasonably challenging walk, about 30 minutes to the top for the fit ones, or more like 50mins for me. Dogs are allowed, technically on leash, but no-one does. The view from the top is spectacular, looking out across the the farmland past Yungaburra to Mt Bartle Frere
