An old, beautifully preserved stone church with paths that lead to the towns market place and town centre shops.

All Hallows is indeed impressive externally but its the inside that is amazing. You will fine fabulous examples of stained glass excellent carved misericords/mercy seats, fabulous stone work including the doorways all down to the details of the ornate hand made prayer cushions. On a Saturday you may also have a cup of tea too.

The opening times listed online for this church, either on their own website or elsewhere, are not to be trusted, I made a special visit here (my sister kindly drove me from Rugby to save me a lengthy journey on public transport) to coincide with the 10-12 morning openings (listed for Tues, Wed, Fri & Sat) advertised online. Their own website was more vague but following closure for internal works their newsletter announced they were open again in May 'so come and visit'. I arrived at the church at the supposed opening hours and found it locked tight. The sign visible through the locked gates in the porch saying 'Visitors Welcome' really rubbed it in! Attempts to find a keyholder were fruitless, despite the best efforts of a helpful lady I'd phoned at the parish office. I spoke to some parishoners at the neighbouring church hall, there were comments about a changed timetable for opening, but they said the warden had gone away and they were having trouble finding stewards so wouldn't open the church without them, so a 30 mile trip was wasted, and I now know better than to trust websites! Anyone planning a visit should probably phone ahead to make sure if they actually will open up and avoid the same bitter disappointment If things change and they do decide to welcome visitors again on a more regular basis then the church is well worth the effort as it has some outstanding modern glass as well as earlier features including fine 15th century misericord carvings, so well worth a look. I was lucky enough to get inside once with a group 20 years ago on a very dull day (which made the interior rather gloomy) so was keen to revisit in better light, but am far less optimistc about my chances now,

a lovely church. When I went in the people there were very friendly. I particularly liked that you can get a cup of tea in their cafe on Saturday. I was made to feel most welcome.
