If churches are your thing then you'll love St Mary's. It's quite large and appears to be thriving. Most interesting to us were the stone carvings, including the famous miner, said to be the oldest sculpture of a miner in the world.

Very interesting. Beautiful church. Large for area. Interesting lead mining history. Currently railings are being restored. Very quaint

If you are in the area this church is worth a look. The layout inside is so different to any other church I have been in. Plenty to look at and information sheets are available as you walk in.

Set in the village centre, tucked away in a charming peaceful square, St Mary's was the highlight to our visit to the charming Wirksworth - steeped in history.

Had my granddaughters christening at this beautiful church during Sunday service. The church is spectacular inside and we were made very welcome. The congregation were really friendly
