The Boab Prison Tree is a must see stop when visiting Derby. The Long Cattle and Frosty's Pool are both in the adjacent area.

The prison baob tree is only 30m from the car park so it’s easy access to the public. However the stories about the tree were sad and showed how badly aboriginal people were treated in the past.

Very sad place to visit. So sorry the indigenous were treated so cruelly. I know it is history, so my hope is it will be remembered so it never happens again.

There is a deep spiritual feeling on visiting this tree that the wrongs of the past should never be forgotten. As a white woman, looking at the tree where young indigenous men and women were chained after being stolen from their families, I have no...More

This is a very sad but very interesting part of our history. Wether or not Indigenous people were actually confined inside the Boab, the interpretive boards certainly show them in chains being kidnapped for “work”. It is great that these pics exist and are presented...More

Great to see a very comprehensive display board showing the history attached to this prison tree. Worthwhile visit which also includes information on the blood wood tree species and the longest water trough.

Just a short distance from Derby is the Boab Prison Tree. It is absolutely huge and it is thought that it may have been used to house prisoners awaiting trial in Broome./ Adjacent to the tree is Myall's Bore and Cattle Trough.More
