The cultural centre gives a wonderful insight into the aboriginal culture in the area and their beliefs. I would recommend viewing the short video first which explains the art and what it represents, the wanjina (hope I spelled that correctly). The staff there are great,...More

If you are doing the Gibb River Rd or Derby or Broome you must visit Mowunjum. It is an Aboriginal owned art centre built in the shape of a Wandjina. The artists are custodians to the Wandjina spirits this is reflected in their art work....More

We were impressed by the well maintained Art Gallery and the quality of the paintings on display. I was tempted to purchase but have nowhere to display. The short film on the history of the people was very interesting and informative

Was told to visit this with the promise it was on bitumen & close to town. It was excellent. The art centre had a short film in the cinema which was very good and explained some of the recent history of the areas indigenous peoples....More
