We stayed at Fort Caswell right after Florence. We had a wonderful time in a beautiful environment and love the old fort sections that are still there. Beautiful location. Please take the ferry from Ft Fischer to the island. It is gorgeous.

The Fort Caswell Retreat Center is a great place for relaxation and spiritual renewal. I’ve been going for quite a few years now and always enjoy it. I agree that it would be nice if the history buffs could visit the property occasionally. However, don’t...More

We stayed in a beach house just down from the Fort Caswell entrance. Beautiful views of inlet with marsh grass and town of Southport. Front views were of Atlantic Ocean! Enjoyed watching the huge container ships arriving and leaving Cape Fear River!!

What an incredible find! I came here 43 years ago. It is the end of the island so water is all around you. Very well maintained. Huge facility for large groups. Very reasonable prices on rooms and food.

For its age it is a nice place. Great history lesson for kids. It's Nice that you can walk through the old fort. Relaxing place to stay. Bunks are old army bunks and not comfortable at all. The fort is industrial. Not bad, but not...More
