I really enjoy visiting Oak Island. The beach is not very big, in terms of sand availability. Not usually too crowded. Located in a cute little area. Parking is free and usually readily available. They have a pier as well with some restaurants nearby.

Oak Island beaches are fantastic. Oak Island is less commercialised than many other beach areas in North Carolina. The beaches are clean and not overly crowded. There are many great restaurant choices nearby.
I have been to almost all the beaches in North and South Carolina. This is my absolute favorite because of the two light houses, the fact that it faces south, and that the community is so warm and welcoming.
