The long stretch of beach is beautiful, with no tall hotels. There is a charm about Oak Island that you don't find at Myrtle Beach with its high-rise condos and hotels. There are a lot of public access locations so you don't have to go...More

The beaches at Oak Island are some of the nicest and cleanest around. There is also plenty of parking. We were there in July. And they were still not crowded. If you are looking for a beach vacation. I highly recommend it.

Island is very nice, there’s a small town with restaurants, ice cream shops but not as quaint as I thought it would be but everything is there you would need, a beautiful miniature golf course too! If you rent a house on the beach you...More

Came for 4th of July. The beach across from our condo was under restoration. We had to keep moving further down the beach to get clean water and clean beach. This should have been done in the winter instead of during high crowd times. Was...More

Oak Island Beaches are beautiful with little to no rocks or seaweed. There are also very little crowds. It seems to be one of the last places you can go and enjoy the ocean without all the commercialized junk you see everywhere else. If you’re...More

While not as wide as the beaches at Myrtle Beach and the beaches just south of there, these beaches are well maintained (clean of trash) and not at all croweded.

On the west end of the island, the entrances are a flat walk instead of up an down a sand dune; someone with a bad back and knees appreciates that. People are so friendly and helpful there. Went with my family the children wanted to...More

I've been to many beaches in my lifetime and this one is in the top 10! For one thing, it is a south facing beach which means you can face the beach while tanning. Parking was so easy and free! We've been to other beaches...More

We love that Oak Island is so dog friendly. They allow dogs on their beaches any time of day, unlike most other area beaches. Oak Island has lots of public access areas & loads of parking. Very visitor friendly. Clean, safe beaches absolutely beautiful.
