Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I live in the area and had never taken this trip until my nephew and his 5 y/o were visiting. It was a wonderful experience! The weather was spectacular, the 30 min ride over to the island was fun and informative. Our Capt. was great and talked about interesting facts on the way over. He was very friendly, funny and personable. Once we were dropped off we had two hours to relax and/or look for sanddollars. It was perfect for the 5 y/o. He could safely play in the water and hunt for treasures. We all had a great time. After two hours the ferry picks you up for a 30 min ride back to MHC. We found lots of LIVE sand dollars but no dead one and those are the ONLY ones you can keep. PLEASE adhere to this rule and not kill the live ones.

We booked online for the next day. Very easy to use. We went on the Sand Dollar Island excursion. This was an awesome ride, the captain and his mate were very helpful explaining things. It is well worth the cost. and we found 2 sand dollars to keep. We found lots of them alive, that we put back in the water. Bring whatever you need with you because there are no places to buy anything. You definately need a bottle or 2 of water each, sunscreen, (there is no shade) so an umbrella or a beach tent. Can't wait to go again!

We were a group of 10, ages 2 to 66, and EVERYONE had a blast! Sand dollars were plentiful that day, our group found 52 PERFECT ones. Our 8-year-old said it was "the best field trip EVER". We brought chairs and a cooler for water, which worked well. Be prepared for no shade. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much for your great review! This is one of our most popular trips and the kids especially love it! The gentle tide pools are great for the kids to play in and the parents can relax and little more! We are so glad it was the best field trip ever and we look forward to having you sail with us again soon!

What an amazing experience!! We had two families that went on this and together we found close to 50 sand dollars! It took us a little time to get the hang of how to spot the dead ones... we probably found hundreds of live ones before we really figured out that you don’t have to dig deep for the dead ones... they are kinda on the surface (you can only take home the dead/white ones). Watch where to step and look at your feet... flip over anything white sticking out... most of the dead ones were found far away from the main sandbar. In this pic a few of the kids are “painting” their finds with glue. These are extremely fragile (several broke just getting them back to the campsite)!! Elmer’s glue or Modge Podge helps hold them together/strengthen them. Super fun!! Can’t wait to go back!

This was an amazing experience. The ferry captains and staff were kind and very entertaining. My husband and I brought our two children, ages 4 and 6. They had a blast. The water was very shallow and my husband and son both found sand dollars. It was FANTASTIC!
