Scenic lookouts
Sep 2020
The aproximately 30 km drive north from Walpole to Mount Frankland is worth spending a morning. Climb to the summit where there is a fire tower and great views of the surrounding countryside. Do the mountain circuit walk and visit the viewing platform for north Mount Frankland. Take a picnic lunch or morning tea.

There is a interesting drive thought the forest to get to the walks starting point. Its worth taking the time and effort to go all the way to the top. the vie is fantastic and the climb is its own reward.

Peaceful, scenc and as as physical as you want.

Requires a drive on unmade roads, but these are all in good condition so non-$WD will have no issues. Walks in the area are well described, and can include easy or not-so easy options. The views, trees, rocks and history are spectacular.

360 degree views from the top of Mount Frankland
Feb 2020
It is quite a drive (30 minutes) on a red dusty gravel track (beware of large lorries in the middle of the road) to get to the carpark. There's a short walk to an information / education centre and then the walk starts up to the top. You pass an old cabin where the Lookout used to live and then on up. There is a ladder to climb enroute so physically you have to have some ability. The climb is definitely worth as the views are 360 and magnificent and on the top is a lookout station which is manned. Again there was hardly anyone else around and we stopped and picnicked by the ladder on a bench. We returned to the carpark and then carried on to the Wilderness Lookout which had some good views.

Great escape

This is a fantastic walk. Has a lot of feel about it. Some of the walk is wheelchair friendly. Really worth the drive to get here.

Nature and forest at its best
Apr 2019
A drive through the forest to Mt Franklin then a hike to the granite outcrop is a great way to spend the morning, There is a walkway over to the valley to the North and for the more adventurous a short climb up steps and a ladder to the top. A great view of the Walpole and Nornalup inlets and the surrounding national park on a clear day but it is also mysterious and beautiful in the misty rain.

Mount Frankland Wilderness Lookout
Feb 2020
After about 30 minutes traversing a dusty gravel road you come to a small car park nestled in the trees. A short walk takes you to the information signage and from here there is the climb up Mt Frankland or a less energetic option is to walk along the path along the side of Little Mt Frankland to the Mount Frankland Wilderness Lookout which has a view over the western areas of the Wilderness park.

A Great walk to the top of Mount Franklin
Oct 2019
It is a greater experience to walk to the top of Mount Franklin. The last part of the climb is a little harder. But when you get there a see the magnificent views from the top it is all worth it.

Lookout and hut

Great facilities, with some wildflowers including orchids here. The hut is interesting and the lookout infrastructure is unbelievable for the view is just okay.
