Catch the train and do the guided tour, or ride up the steepest hill on the island, this is worth the effort. The size of the gun and the ammunition is amazing (each projectile is 172kg). The views of the island from the gun platform...More

We found the tour really interesting and had not know the Oliver Hill Battery was here before visiting Rottnest Island! The train ride to get there was a great way to get there. Worth a visit if you're on Rottnest!

And I think you have to book them in the town (but then you can get the little train up). If you just show up on a bike without a booking, you have to park it at the bottom of the hill and walk up...More

This is a must see stop for anyone interested in World War II history. The gun emplacement was one of several which protected the approaches to Fremantle/Perth. The site is more than just the gun itself —it is a complex of underground storage and munitions...More

The Oliver Hill Battery is well worth a visit if you have any interest in WWII history. The battery is in surprisingly good condition and the guides are very knowledgeable.
