I found the name misleading as I never could see a "shell house" while standing at the lookout. My brochure listed this lookout as best seen at sunset. While beautiful, there are probably other lookouts that garner a more breathtaking reaction during sunset than this...More

The Grandstand and its stunning rock ledges contrasts withthe Shell house but both make a great spot for a sunset photo. Worth a look

Short distance from Kalbarri, and a few minutes walk from the carpark. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. So interesting to see the way the rock formation has decided the coastline here. Great views along the coast and out to sea.

Visited here early in the day and saw a pod of dolphins. We also saw whales further out to sea. Really beautiful with the morning light on the cliffs.

As you are driving past all the other places along the coast it is worth dropping into and the walk is only 400m return. As for the best view I'm not so sure.

The Shellhouse Grandstand is a very interesting naturally eroded cliff face and worth a visit for the views. In whale season you may even sight whales from the cliff tops.
