Its hard to imagine that these somewhat ugly looking mounds have been around for over 3 billion years and are likely responsible for life on earth as we know it. Quite humbling to experience knowing that. The walkway over the water is about 200m from...More

We visited here on our way back from Monkey Mia. Perhaps it was not a great day for it, very hot and the tide was out. Nice to read the information around but not something we would go out of our way to see again....More

We visited here on our way to Shark Bay and frankly it was astonishing. The tide was out which is supposed to be the best way to see the Stromatolites. Plenty of parking and a short walk to the boardwalk on which you walk along...More

Beautiful scenery, but the experience was spoiled by the amount of flies there (trying to get up your nose or in youre mouth and ears!!) Recommend a fly net to wear over your head if you want to see this place.

Just odd things. Lots of great information about them on noticeboards. Sort of like looking at rockpools...except they aren't. Weird.

the oldest forms of life on our planet, worthwile seeing this place! it's hotter (min. +5° C) than in the rest of shark bay and teaches you a lot about the history of life on earth..

If you read the information boards, then the concept of the stromatolites is mind blowing, especially as Hamelin pool is one of the very few places on Earth to see them like this, well worth a visit
