We were attracted by the prospect of easy access by train from Melbourne and easy access to all facilities in the town. We were not disappointed by any aspect. We especially enjoyed the small but distinctive art exhibition and museum collection in the Art Gallery
Love this small gallery and it's excellent Australian and international collection. All housed in a beautiful art deck building. Thank goodness it was saved at the last minute from closure. Don't miss it on a visit to Castlemaine.
The Castlemaine Art Museum is great for a short break from the rustic buildings which will make up the rest of a visit to this quaint country town.
