The walk around the Garrison Walls follows the coastal path, with wonderful views out to sea. The information boards explain interesting facts about the walls. The walk, although slightly up and down, is fairly easy and there are plenty of seats along the way. Not...More

The garrison walls have some interesting artefacts and history of the islands. The views of all the neighbouring islands are excellent and the walk around the headland peaceful. A must see vantage point.

Nicely cut footpaths offer a gentle walk to and then along the wall before rising back up to the central facilities at the Star. A few interesting signboardd and cannons make it quite interesting

Great place to walk around - we went round in the evening and took a bottle of wine and some nibbles and sat on a bench and watched the sun go down - perfect

A good circular walk with military history and great sea views, easy walking. Takes longer than you expect, say 2 hours if you plan stops.

Lovely walk around the Garrison. Take a picnic and relax, on a bench, overlooking the various islands. There are plenty of benches to sit on and you can go the easy way around the headland (levelish) or head upwards and go past the camping site....More

From the Stat Castle hotel you can incorporate visiting the Garrison on a circular walk back into town which isn’t too challenging. The Garrison is well preserved and steeped in history of the defence walls of St Mary’s. The area is looked after and the...More

Not at all - it is totally free and about 2.5hrs to walk around taking lots of photos. You can do a guided tour - about £8 from the TIC which is also good and get a more in depth history of the place.
