Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Poorly ran aquarium with decent tanks. We were underwhelmed from the start. We showed up to the desk with a gentleman with two ear buds in, surfing his phone. Really we can’t save that for break time? Not a good first impression but it continued. My son noticed the stamp presses, he loves those, so we went back to the front desk and the gentleman told us they haven’t done that for almost a year. Okay, if you’re not doing it why not remove the stamp presses? The keen eyes of a child will spot those things a mile away. Onward into the aquarium not an employee to be seen to address questions. The water feature for kids to play with was in complete disrepair. I really couldn’t even explain to my son how it all works because it was broken. Maintenance maybe? We did find an employee further on down the line who couldn’t tell us what tanks the scavenger fish were located in (we located them all but a couple) and even could not tell us if the water was fresh water or salt water in a tank. Wow!!! Didn’t seem like one worker had any passion at all for their daily job! For $57 we expected way way more! No clue who runs this place but my general feedback would be to put some effort into your employees. This could be a decent aquarium with some work and effort.

We were looking for something extra to do while we were in the area and found out this was a thing. We found it pretty extensive for a smaller aquarium. We didn't bring kids but it had plenty of kid-friendly activities. Well done!

I would have to say, this is one of the best aquariums I've seen in NYS yet! It was in a mall, which threw us off but once inside it was amazing! It's a must see if your in the area!

At first I thought the nav took me to the wrong place, and we were headed for a fish food store in a sad rundown mall. Don't be discouraged though- despite the depressing locale, the Via Aquarium is quite a little gem!

$41 for my tween and I seemed a little steep (especially considering we took our sweet time and visited each display twice for a grand total of 45 minutes visiting time) but in the end we were happy to support them and will definitely return!

They had a nice variety of interesting things, and most of the animals seemed healthy and well cared for. Kudos to the staff and owners for trying to make a go of it! Would be a nice visit with small kids.

(Side note- the rest of the mall is a surreal experience, with 95% of the stores closed but two other "experiences"- a Cryptid-type/curiosities "museum" and a viewing of some dude's vintage toys)

The aquarium although smaller than we are used to in Florida is a local gem. We enjoyed our visit. It’s great for all ages.

We enjoyed the Via Aquarium at the Rotterdam Mall. For a smaller aquarium it is well done. The staff is courteous and friendly. The reptile show was great. I have been to other aquariums and this one stacks up.

We love going to this small aquarium. It is our second time, our boys were little the first time we went, this time they are a bit older. They love all the fish and stingrays that you can pet!

We were visiting the area and wanted a fun activity to explore with my almost 5yo. This was the prefect size aquarium to visit for his age and attention span.
The touch tanks were a lot of fun! And really entertained him. He loved seeing the sharks.
I wish the exhibit signs were more accurate but they had an interesting range and fish.
I was surprised there were not more employees around the touch tanks to answer questions.

Our family went to the aquarium as a side trip to see Howe Caverns. We didn't realize it was in a mall that that been almost decimated by Covid and the economy. HOWEVER, look past where it's situated; it's a nice aquarium -- clean, easy to walk through, lots of fish to keep your interest. The sharks are small so don't except adult sharks. Our favorite part were the sting rays .. . you are able to touch them and they are quite entertaining! The staff at the sting ray tank was knowledgeable and very friendly. The gift shop was a little disappointed but we were able to get a refrigerator magnet for our collection!
