AWESOME experience! Nadiera was our guide. NADIERA IS AMAZING!! What a fantastic tour. A beautiful Day. Very comprehensive tour. Extremely educational and compassionate. All workers seem to be Vegan, for obvious reasons but do not force this on you. We interacted w all of the animals. The goats, sheep and 1 pig get to roam freely. All other animals and in comfortable pastures and enclosures. WONDERFUL experience and you NEED a reservation!! No walk ins allowed as you need to be walked around the entire farm. Buy the cookbook!!

Absolutely wonderful!! What an amazing sanctuary, rescuing over 5,000 beloved animals since they started in 2001! We had a wonderful tour and the staff is genuinely caring and passionate about each animal. The animals let you come right up to them to pet them. Great fun for all ages.

This place is like a reboot for the soul. It is humbling to see how these animals that were once so cruelly treated, are able to rebuild trust and love humans again. The staff here went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The tour itself was incredibly educational and interactive with the animals. We didn't feel rushed or unsafe at any point - the staff were keen on answering questions and navigating any concerns anyone might have.
There were no kids in our tour but I saw the family friendly tour taking place. The guide was speaking in a fun, upbeat child friendly manner and the kids seemed to be loving the tour. Needless to say we loved our guide and the tour we got.
Additionally, I was surprised at how clean the facilities (restrooms), grounds and animals were. They truly care for all aspects of the sanctuary.

Highly recommend! So much to see and the interactions with the animals are priceless!

The Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a wonderful haven for its rescued farm animals. You can do a tour and learn how the animals came to be rescued and interact with some of them, mostly the goats and sheep. All of the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. We stayed for 3 nights at The Homestead, which is a cozy B&B on the property and offers a vegan breakfast - delicious homemade granola, fruit, fresh berries, bagels, bread, nut butters, and non-dairy products. Check-in was done remotely (you get the entry code and your room code via email) and the fact breakfast is self-serve really suited us. Michelle, the manager, ensured there was plenty of food at all times, our room was extremely clean and the general location is excellent for hiking or visiting the towns of Saugerties, Catskill and Woodstock.

My first visit was a day trip with my best friend May 2022. Our guide Michelle was wonderful and helped make the day so much fun! My second visit was a 3-night stay at the Homestead with my husband. We had a wonderful stay. Loved the interaction with the animals! You can tell they are well taken care of. The staff and volunteers were very friendly and helpful answering questions and discussing the animals. Michelle made sure we were well stocked with great breakfast foods, nut milks, homemade deserts, etc. I read a few of the negative reviews and just have to comment on them. If you are not vegan and take offense to being lectured on the torment and horrible things that happen to factory farm animals, I am confused about why you were there in the first place. The animals are not there to entertain visitors and their children. Our wonderful guide and hostess Michelle knew there was no need to lecture, as we have been vegan for 16 years, and I seriously doubt she would ever lecture any visitors. Compassion and respect is what these animals deserve, and it is obvious the staff truly care.

Rescued farm animals indeed have a sanctuary here in the Catskills. The facility is immaculately clean and run by a team of passionate animal protectors and carers. It is quite a large 'farm' and guests need to book and be part of a tour to learn about the animals and why they are residents here. Our guide, Lauren was lovely and clearly very knowledgeable and passionate. Her tour was a little bit too long for our 2 year old and we had to leave after an hour and 15 minutes. As it was intended as a tour for 4 years and under, it may be best to shorten the explanations at each stop. This in no way spoiled our visit. We enjoyed roaming around with Lauren and meeting the animals - all with a name and a history. The spacious rustic setting is very picturesque.

We had a wonderful tour of the sanctuary led by our guide Wendy. We saw chickens, turkeys, geese, pigs, sheep, horses, goats and cows and were able to interact and pet with a number of the animals. Jasmine the pig laid down for a belly rub, we petted Imogen the turkey and cows Darwin and Rudy. They animals are respected and well cared for and the grounds are beautiful. Wheelchair access: The path was quite flat, and somewhat rocky but able to traverse it with my manual wheelchair. With some help from the people I was with I was able to get into almost all the animal enclosures we visited, except where the chickens were (the door would not open wide enough). I was able to get into the cow pasture. Note that some of the animal enclosures had one step to get in/uneven terrain and I accessed them with assistance from the people I came with. There was an accessible port-a-potty but I did not use it. Welcome hut and store are accessible. It was dry weather that day so my tires did not get very muddy. I brought wipes just in case.

My girlfriend and I visited the sanctuary today and we had a great time. Our guide, Kaden did a tremendous job of bringing us around the farm to meet all the animals, describe their various situations and give us information about the different species. It's really a terrific way to spend a few hours, get some fresh air and learn a few things.
On a side note, I'd like to address comments in some of the reviews I've read about so called " vegan lectures." We experienced no such thing. What we did learn is that all these animals, big and small have feelings, quirks and characteristics much the same as people. If that's something you can't handle for some reason? Your problem.

Anyway, fantastic day! Thanks CAS!
