If you stop and buy a polar passport you can do a wine tour and break it up to a few day trips or even a few weekend trips. Very affordable and friendly trail. Dress for weather.... bring a picnic. Many even welcome dogs.
There is no topography like that of NYS finger lakes. Stunning views everywhere, live music, wine beer and spirits tasting. And plenty of fun. Chauffeur wine tours take all the trouble out of having fun!

I agree that the Strong Museum of Play is worth your trip north to Rochester. Check out the various hiking opportunities in the parks throughout the region - Watkins Glen is really beautiful, for example.

Recommend Glenora Winery on Route 14 west side of Seneca Lake. Good wine and great view of largest Finger Lake. Also right on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. Many wineries on this side of lake. Don't ignore the smaller wineries. There is also a nice B and B in Geneva at head of the lake... Bragdon House... and proprietor can chauffeur you on a personal tour for a decent price. Finger Lakes AVA may not be Napa Valley but the wines, even reds contrary to popular belief, are well made. Disclosure..I have NO vested interest in these places other than I am proud of the Finger Lakes wine culture and the efforts and results of these dozens of wineries located here.
