Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I don’t like leaving a negative review on any small business. My husband and I are small business owners ourselves, but I feel like I need to speak out regarding this marina’s policy. We rented a pontoon boat in July this year. It was a torrential rain storm so we had to get a rain check. When you rent from them, you have to sign a waiver that states that if you have a rain check you have to use it in the same season. After receiving the rain check we got an automated email with the voucher information that also indicated that we had to use it within 365 days. This makes sense doesn’t it?? You pay $560 for a boat so it makes sense to have a year within the contract to use it. Fair. But no, when I inquired about it I was told it was sent out through their service and was incorrect. Okay, so every weekend was either wet or we had weddings, etc. Finally made a reservation to try to get back there this last weekend before they close. My husband gets exposed to covid. It’s not happening. I called to ask if they would allow us to extend the rental into next year within the one year contract date. They refused to help us out. “Prices might go up next year”. I said we would certainly pay for the increase. Still no. These are tough times. Now we just lost $560. They gained. How many more people have they gained from this season? I guess that’s how they make their money on the tourists. Sad. Owners: You just lost a customer but hey what do you care? There will be another one ready to rent the boat so you’ll make your money. I have an idea: instead of screwing people out of that kind of money, maybe charge a no show fee of $100 or something like that. We would’ve been happy with that.
Lesson learned I guess.

The staff at this location was very helpful and professional. The low rating comes from the very poor condition of the boat launch area. Concrete is all broken up and there is a large hole in the middle. Its also a tricky launch in that you have to no room to maneuver and you need to be very experienced backing up in a short 90 degree turn. The owner should spend some money fixing the launch area. I rented a slip for 5 days. The area they put me in was also tricky to get in and out of. I get it. They want the easy slips for day renters. This is fine but just be up front about things like this. I would rent a slip again but I would advise launching boat elsewhere.

BEWARE!! I disregarded other reviews I read, but this is what happened to us! We were scammed and charged for "DAMAGE" to the pontoon boat we rented. The rental agent inspected the boat before we left, and indicated dents in the front. Upon returning the boat, we were told that the "dents were much bigger". So they acknowledge their boat was dented when we took it out and then accused us of making it bigger? Basically their word against ours. They socked us for an additional $75.00 on top of our rental fee. SUGGESTION: Video the entire boat before taking it out so you can prove that you did not "damage" their boat. WILL NEVER RENT FROM RIVETTS AGAIN!!!!

Just like the other people, we had rented a pontoon boat for the whole day. During the inspection before the trip, they mark all the dents and damages to the boat, we were told there was some damage to the propeller which was marked on the paper. After we came back from the trip, they said that the propeller looked worse than before, and were were told that we had to pay $98 for repairs. After arguing for an hour, they still charged us $54.
MAKE SURE YOU TAKE PICTURES OR VIDEOS OF ANY DAMAGES BEFORE YOUR TRIP!!! So you wont get blamed for something you didn't do and be a victim of paying for their boat maintenance.

We decided to rent a large pontoon for the day. You did not require a skippers license. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a fun day fishing and swimming of pontoon. Fantastic way to see the lake.

We have used Rivett's for 4 years now and typically rent a pontoon for 3 days as we have a Big Mabel tube and 8 year old girls who love it. Upgraded to 125hp engine this year over the 75 and really couldn't tell the difference so next year we'll go back to 75 and pay less money and a 2 day rental is fine. The paperwork process is fairly painless and every year they blow our raft up for us and deflate it when we're done.

What a great time! We had been comfortable in a pontoon, but this was our first time on speed boat. Bill took the time to explain everything to us, and we ended up on a weekend when the lake wasn't very busy.
So lots of nice cottages to see and the atmosphere was just beautiful! We had a great time, and again having a great staff esp with Bill there will make us definitely come back again! Definitely the highlight of our trip to Upstate NY!

We visit old forge every year. This was our first time renting a boat from them. Great boats and great customer service. They are very helpful and give detailed maps of the Fulton chain lakes. Fishing, swimming, boating and tubing. Defiantly do a full day rental! Worth it.

We rented the largest pontoon boat offered for our crew of five adults and two children. We knew we wanted to rent on a Wednesday, so when we were in town Tuesday, we stopped in and did all the paperwork. I recommend doing this as well. The crew was very thorough and explained a lot to us about where to go, how to use the boat, etc. We bought a tube and they told us great places to go tubing, too. I also recommend a full day rental, we never felt rushed and really enjoyed the day. We went all the way to the Inlet (opposite end). We stopped at the sandbar and Dog Island. Both were a good time. Just be careful with your anchor. We put ours in two or three time and on the fourth time it came untied. Luckily, we were able to recover it. All in all...great time! Friendly staff, clean (new/like new) boats.
