Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This center has grown into a first class art center. The activities are endless and the displays, like the water color show are the best.

We were fortunate to be in Old Forge for the annual ADK Watercolor show which opened on August 4.
Such a wide range of fantastic artists !
We thoroughly enjoyed the show and although we make a point of visiting art shows like Brandywine, not sure we have ever seen such an exhaustive display of talented watercolor artists.
Judging from the posters and reminders of past shows presented the View looks like a great source of entertainment including art, music, etc.
A really great resource in a small town. We thoroughly enjoyed the watercolor show.

I would be oh, so much more interested and impressed if they spent more time showcasing local artists and Adirondack crafts and heritage. I have been here on different occasions, so will give them some credit for the annual watercolour and the annual quilt shows... but most of the exhibits do NOT represent Adirondack heritage or culture. Seriously: do you need to go to the Adirondacks to look at African art? You want to see Adirondack heritage? Go to the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mt Lake. You want to see Adirondack ecology? Go to the Wild Center in Tupper Lake.

View's mission is to enrich, educate and inspire residents and visitors to the Adirondacks. It is not a museum, but rather a series of beautiful galleries that feature the work of living artists. At any one time, there are as many as 6 exhibits on display, featuring diverse media and subject matter. View does not feature Adirondack art exclusively. One visitor who attended an opening reception in the summer of 2015 referred to View as a "slice of SoHo in the Adirondacks."

The View is a beautiful gallery. There was a watercolor exhibit there when we visited with some very nice works. The View also had another room devoted to the different animals in the Adirondack Region which included some stuffed animals and some great photography. There is also a small gift shop with reasonably priced items. We had to pay an admission fee of $10 each which might be reasonable for a museum but we felt was a bit much for a gallery.

We visited for the Watercolor Show and it was excellent. The museum had an exhibit of ceramics and wood carvings which made it even more worth the trip.

This was a nice smallish gallery. There were some
nice pieces there. Some reflected the Adirondack region and some did not. They have other things there such as workshops and concerts, but they weren’t going on while we were there.

this mid week vacation was a great experience. Very nice boat tour and ski lift to see the fall leaves. The museum center which we have not been to 20 years has grown to meet and exceed our expectations

As the author of a 5-star review from 2018, it breaks my heart to come back and recount a negative experience. I know this place has the potential to be great. Today, it wasn't.

The tie-dye drop-in workshop was beyond underwhelming. If you want to spend $35 for a 10-minute activity in which everyone appears unenthusiastic to the point of being upset someone has interrupted their quiet time then this is for you. If you want to be issued a receipt for $30 only to have the person staffing the front desk rudely tell you that this is the wrong price and act like it's your fault and then charge you more without showing any pricing information, this is definitely for you.

We were excited to attend other workshops this week. We were excited to recommend the gallery to other adults in our group since it's not ideal for us with young children. Neither of these things will happen; I will never visit ViewArts again. The people working there seemed to go out of their way to make us feel unwelcome. It did not surprise me it was almost deserted.

So disappointed to have lost this as an Old Forge option.

All Creatures Great and Small allows viewers an opportunity to enjoy nature through three different mediums - sculpture, photography and water color. I gravitated to Al Jordan's sculptures which I thought were incredible. The second exhibit "Natural Homes: Nests, Burrows, Caves and Trees" offered even more diversity in mediums - an eclectic and unique exhibit. The final exhibit was a members show featuring Andrew Morgan and Debra Stamp. I enjoyed Morgan's photography but wish I cold have know more of where the photographs were taken.

As a family with two toddlers, art museums are not exactly in our milieu. But View Arts has workshops Monday thorough Friday, with different themes and different pricing structures. We did the kids’ open workshop drop in and the tie-dye, and it was wonderful. Our kids were among the youngest—there were kids up to about 12 at the open workshop and adults were doing the tie-dye. The staff was friendly and helpful. This provided an enjoyable and affordable option on rainy days in Old Forge!
