My family and I had a wonderful 2-hour boat tour of the Fulton Chain of lakes. The price was very reasonable at $16 per person. There were snacks and drinks for purchase on the first deck. Let me start of by saying that the history of these lakes is incredible. The boat Captain gave a very informational history tour of these beautiful lakes. The boat ride takes you through a series of lakes which was once explored by a guy named Fulton to potentially be the west-east passage between Lake Ontario and the Hudson River. These lakes are great for transpo, but I guess those Adirondack mountains stopped that idea, so they built the Erie Canal. Anyway, the history that is provided on this great boat ride goes on and on, but never distracted from enjoying the beautiful day with family. Highly recommend this boat tour as a must-do on your stop in Old Forge.

Cost $45.00 plus tax and tip at the rest.
When you make reservations you order your meal. We were given 4 entrees to pick from (hard decision)
Easy to find-right on Rte 28
Started about 4:30 and went thru the "Old Forge Pond" all the way to the 4th lake. The guide was very informative on the history of the area . Told us all about the lakes and the surrounding property.
Stopped on the 4th lake for a nice dinner at North Woods Inn. Dinner included soup or salad, entree, dessert and coffee or tea.
Boarded the boat for the return trip. Returned around 7:30-7:45.
Would def. do this again!!
Make sure to bring a comera-beautiful photo opportunities.

Even though we went on our lake cruise after the leaves were past their prime it was still very scenic and pretty. I did see some loons! The captain narrated during the cruise and he was very informative without being too over-the-top. He pointed out lots of landmarks and had some good stories to tell. We thought it was well worth our time and the cost of the tickets.

I called Old Forge Lake Cruises a few days before driving up to Old Forge and confirmed the time of the Saturday afternoon cruises. However when I showed up, they had cancelled the regular cruises in favor of a charter. Yeah, it's a business decision, but if you post it on your web site and confirm it by phone you should deliver it, unless the boat sinks or something.

Drove our family to Old Forge for the day with the idea of taking the boat ride and seeing some Old Forge sights. The night before we checked the website of the boat tour, got directions and price and the next morning started on our day trip. Drove into the "Old Forge Chain of Lakes" area only to find a sign that stated "No 1 or 3 tour". We sat with a few people waiting for the boat to arrive and buy our tickets and 3 pm came and went. Finally the boat chugged up and one of the ship mates said sorry no more boat rides today, we have a private charter. We were like "WHAT" just drove almost 3 hours for this, ship mate asked the driver of the boat who was the captain and ower and said we are "done for the day" Certainly there was plenty of time to take our family on a boat ride and the 17 other people who were also waiting. Told the owner that there was nothing on the website that stated there were no tours today, he said yes there was. Immediately one checking the sight on the iphone and there was absolutely nothing about the tours being cancelled. He ruined the day for 20+ people waiting for a boat tour. Needless to say we had a great day in Old Forge and would go back to see the many attractions but would definately not reccommend this boat ride for the simple fact the owner and operator is completly rude and non caring about his customers, he made his money for the day and did not care if he ruined plans for families. He is a complete idiot sticking his nose in the air when people were asking questions telling people to come back another day. We then decided to explore other places in Old Forge and told the business people of our terrible story about our plans for a boat ride that never happened......their jaw just dropped. they were so sorry our experience started that way in Old Forge and offered some advice on another boat ride in Raquette Lake. We are scheduled to take that August 20, 2013, and are so looking forward to it. . Do you really want to have your lives in the hand of this inconsiderate jerk!!!

This is a two hour relaxing boat ride. There is nothing really for kids, so unless your young one likes to sit and look out from the boat for 2 hours, it's not for them. There were a couple of kids on the boat and they seemed bored.
I was lucky enough to go on an absolutely picture perfect weather day during PEAK leaves season. It was absolutely beautiful! I also went on this same cruise a couple years ago, during mid summer. I enjoyed it then too. There are many beautiful homes and camps - things I NEVER could afford and are fun to look at. And of course ..... the mountains.
I personally, really enjoy just sitting on a boat and looking around at any lake scenery. So I really enjoy this. It is a slow moving boat - a nice way to spend an afternoon. (Bring suntan lotion if it's sunny!)
They do sell snacks (pretzels, chips) and have juices, bottled water and alcohol (I know they had beer). I think the "adult beverages" may make this trip a little more fun.
This is a good thing to do at least once if you visit Old Forge regularly.

There were mouse/rat droppings over by the food area(major public health hazard). I know it must be hard when the boat is outside most of the year but when you are entertaining guests this is pretty discusting. Tour was less than stated time. Would not do it again, kinda boring.

My wife and I took the 11 AM cruise on 2Aug2018. It left promptly on time, the captain and crew were extremely courteous and knowledgeable. The wind was blowing that day so the Captain advised us that we would be going with the wind first and against the wind coming home so we could choose where to sit. The history of the region is very interesting since it was the playground of the rich in the early 1900s.

Did not see any dogs on the cruise and there are no facilities available to leave them behind only a booking in shed. Suggest you go onto their website and ask the question they are very helpful.
