Yes, this is the only tunnel under the canal. It's a one lane tunnel but there really isn't anything on the other side of the canal so don't bother. There is a little sign explaining how it is in Ripley's.

Took a trip to Miller’s and decided to find this. On Culvert Street! GPS got us there no problem. The road goes under the canal. Built in the late 1800’s, has a Ripley’s believe it or not plaque.

Very cool. Instead of a bridge, the road was tunneled under the canal. This is a cool place in the summer! Great for echos and there are constant drips of water leaking from above.

If you are interested in Erie Canal history,this is unusual. The canal actually goes on top of the culvert. With the 200th anniversary of the Canal this year, this is an oddity to be seen.
