Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came to Misali Island by mistake and it turned out to be the most beautiful mistake ever. With very few people on the island, the beach is clean and scenic. Clean water you can almost drink it. It is however more fun to go as a group. The adventure is more fun when shared.

You can't sleep over on the island, but lovely snorkeling off the beach, and interesting history. Most lodges can arrange for you to take a packed breakfast / lunch. Ablutions limited, remember to take toilet paper / tissues. Get there early.

Misali Island is a small forest covered island surrounded by coral reefs. It is located West of Pemba and North of Zanzibar(Unguja). Some of the most breathtaking coral reefs of East Africa and an amazing protected island.

If you are looking for a place in Pemba to snorkel and see beautiful corals this is definitely one of the places to go! Me and my parents were there for one day. We contacted Nassor from Coral Tours & Travel (+255 777 437 397) who arranged a boat (with life jackets) to take us to the island along with a simple lunch (Some rice, salad and fruit. He told us there would be fish but in the end we didn't so make sure you arrange with him what exactly you expect). The boat ride takes about one hour. Misali is a beautiful little island where you can snorkel and find beautiful lively coral just of the main beach. It has some chaise longue to lay on as well as good beach "umbrellas". There is a nice walk through the forest which takes you to some caves and to the Turtle Beach where, at night, you may be able to see some turtles laying eggs or baby turtles running to the sea. Worth the visit!

I wanted to go diving on Pemba Island and the guide I've found on tripadvisor was Khamis. I contacted via whatsapp, he speak English very well. He then connected me to Muhammed and Haji, both are government rangers and Diving masters. They are both very friendly, helping and welcoming. I was lucky to be able to stay on the island for a few days with the locals (only for adventurers 😀). I dived 5 time with Muhammad and Saeed is also a ranger and took care of everything. Thank you all for a great experience and good luck to all!
Khamis would help you with anything related to Pemba Island, his number is:

Picturesque island with best snorkeling we've experienced in Tanzania. The water is crystal clear, corals and fishes are colorful, sand is white, and photos taken back are like postcards from paradise. Quite hard to reach, especially with tighter budget, but possible. We used best (and and probably the only?) tour operator's in Chake Chake "Coral Tours" services - and we're more than happy with everything. Would advice to contact him before your arrival to Pemba, because it hard to arrange (or sometimes almost impossible) anything there by yourself and not only due to overpricing. There is no accredited dive center in Chake Chake, but the diving can be arranged by "Coral Tours", just keep in mind that it's you, who is responsible for a safety.

Had the pleasure of spending some time and having lunch on the warm white sands of Misali. Got on shore after a dive and chilled out in the shade on a sun lounger while lunch was laid out. The island is uninhabited and therefore very quiet. Only other visitors might be local fishermen who come ashore. There is also this monkey who seems to be a cross between an immigration officer and mayor of this tiny island. His office was in a tree on the beach we landed on. He came to check us out and to see what was on the menu. After lunch the other divers went off for a second dive and I settled down in the shade as the ocean breeze lulled me to sleep.
Pack a lunch, get there, explore the island or laze around on a beach. Definitely worth visiting.

Lovely, peaceful island. Stunning beach to swim, and curious primates.

Along with friends we have been to Misali Island for both scuba diving and snorkeling. We were all experienced divers with dives in many places in the worlds including Maldives, Red Sea, Caribbean sea, Indonesia, and so on. Honestly, we have never seen before a coral reef in such beautiful health status. Anthropic impact is still limited and the corals are many and colourful. The barrier is full of life with fish ranging from small butterfly fish or angel fish to the big Napoleon fish. Our experience went really beyond any expectation.
The island itself is small but is equipped with sunbeds and allow you to talk walks around. A ranger living on it control that everything follow the rules.
