    Wonderful experience
We loved out tour of the house. While I wanted to take the classic tour, the timing did not work for us so we took the Myths and Mysteries tour. I wasn't expecting it to be great as I thought we would not learn much about the house. I could not have been more wrong, the tour guide and information she provided were exceptional. We learned the history of the home while tying in so much historical information of the time period. Examples: the belief in Phrenology, trying to communicate with the dead, and Halloween origins. Additionally they had an oddities and curiosities exhibit which was awesome and unexpected. The house is so unique my daughter who is an architect and I just loved it. We will definitely visit again, I highly recommend it.

    Myths and Legends Tour
I went on the 'Myths and Legends" tour. The house itself was stunning, especially with the seasonal fall decor. Our tour guide, Sarah (sp?) was informative and witty. The history was fascinating. The decor was authentic to the time period of the home, with many original pieces. A fabulous excursion!

Great little excursion with the family
We visited with out-of-town guests over Thanksgiving weekend and took the Victorian Christmas tour with guide Mia. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the house, and there were a lot of little intriguing little touches like the antique artificial Christmas trees made from goose feathers, and the table setting in the main dining room with an 1870’s tableware set. It was well worth the hour for the tour.

What a fantastic tour with our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide Olivia . House is so festive at Christmas and you definitely feel you are back in the 1870s with the faithful and accurate restoration. Every corner of every room has a unique and fabulous treasure to see . Gift shop has a wide selection of unique and interesting gifts . Highly recommend you go . You will be dazzled by the beauty

An historic home worth a visit!
An historic and architecturally unique home worth visiting. We went at holiday time so it was decorated beautifully and period appropriate. Docent/tour guide was excellent. Current owner has spent a lifetime lovingly and carefully restoring to historic accuracy.

Great visit to ring in the holiday season!
The hour-long tour was so informative and fun. We all loved learning about this amazing house that we had passed so often but had never known its story. Loved the details about a Victorian Christmas and all the delightful details pointed out by our guide. The tour was fabulous! Recommend visiting this historical Westchester home anytime, but the holiday tour was extra special.

Magical snapshot of 1800s Country Estate living
Magical snapshot of 1800s country house living in very special Octagon house. My husband, daughter and I visited during the Christmas season, so the house decorated with numerous Christmas trees, Holiday decorations. Our tour guide (believe Mia) was an excellent tour guide, who shared her knowledge freely, but also engaged our group during the tour. She brought the story of the house alive. House is beautifully maintained and restored. Unlike many historical houses you get to enter rooms with guide and really feel surrounded by the period pieces as you learn about purpose of room and how the residence was lovely restored. We visited at dusk and the setting sun on the property with glimpses of the Hudson River added to the magical experience of stepping back in time. Would definitely recommend this one hour visit. Stairs are steep and many items that young children may disturb, so would not recommend for individuals with issues with stairs or very young children. It does say this on website.

    Work of passion...
This was an amazing experience. If one is a fan of the Victorian aesthetic, as we are, this structure is a "must" to tour. Unique in its own creation; the restoration is a definite wonder. The attention to detail and accuracy, is something to be applauded and appreciated. Our friendly guide was knowledgeable, informative and humorous. She brought the history and reclamation of this masterpiece to life. Coming early, we had time to leisurely enjoy the wrap-around porch (sitting & enjoying the breeze). And, after the tour, we had time to stroll the grounds. We've toured many Victorian structures over the decades (living in a 1890s Queen Anne Victorian ourselves); but this was an especially gratifying involvement, with a true work of passion.

    Certainly a one off
Amazing jewel box of a house. Exterior restoration is immaculate. Our guide was very engaging and enthusiastic about the property and was learned about the construction and restoration. The interior is less interesting perhaps to a European eye. It was full of heavy musty Victorian (American) furniture, very much in keeping but not compelling. In the UK they are still throwing this style of furniture away, can't give it house room. Having said that, the Egyptian room was perhaps the most interesting sight, quite fascinating with the added bonus of two original David Roberts lithograph prints. It was difficult to locate that property - its not too well sign posted and we drove past it twice.

    Great place to visit
The Armour-Stiner Octagon House is a wonderful place to visit. I took a group of women there and they loved it. Our guide was terrific. It has been impeccably and lovingly preserved by the Lombardi family. We did this followed by lunch at The Red Hat on the Hudson and it made for a lovely summer outing.

This is NOT just another opulent historic home tour with tired period decor. (Much of the period decor has been recently aquired or newly custom made based on hisorical clues as to what was there before) .AND, it's an OCTAGON house! The uniqueness and challenges of living and decorating a home with odd shaped rooms is worth seeing, but especially inhabiting.
The octagon is fetshized inside, used religiously throughout along with other unique collections of objects used repeatedly (no spoiler here!) ...making for a fun "scavenger hunt" for these shapes and objects as you go from room to room.
This is a unique opportunity and experience!

This house is amazing. Painstakingly restored from 1870, it is filled with beautiful furniture and objects, some of which date from that period, all of which have a rich story, told with passion and enthusiasm by the excellent docents, Kathy and Sara. I highly recommend this landmark to anyone interested in unusual architecture and/or American history.

The Armour-Stiner Octagon House was absolutely beautiful inside and outside.
We had a wonderful guide who gave us more information about this gorgeous house that you would not find on the internet. When you first see this octagon house your mouth will drop from seeing this beautiful "temple" for the first time. Absolutely worth your time to go see this unique home!

Wife, daughter and I on a weekday afternoon took 1 1/2 hour guided tour. Toured downstairs and two upper floors. History and architecture are fascinating. Of the 8 rooms on the bottom and upper floors 4 are triangular shaped due to the nature of the octagon. Furnishings are simply appropriate for the period that the house was first constructed in the 1870s and into the early 1900s. The landscaping is beautiful with the flowers and several species of trees on 3 1/2 acres. Overall, a visit enjoyed.

Tour Guide was beyond excellent, and the restoration of the house and grounds is exemplary of the highest level of restoration imaginable. There is virtually no detail left unaddressed. It's not the cheapest ticket, but it was worth every penny. Would have loved to see the ENTIRE home, but it is a private residence and there are some spaces that remain, justifiably, off limits.

Our "Classic" tour was a great view of the inside of the Octagon House and surrounding grounds. Our guide was informative and shared many details not only on what was in the home, but also on the history of items within, and how it all was preserved.

At one hour, the tour is the right length to get into details of the history but allowed us to move between many rooms as well as the outdoor veranda.

The house is easy to get to from New York City via Metro North and purchasing tickets online was simple. I would love to go back for one of the other tours!

Worth the time and money. The grounds are lovely, we were able to go inside the green house, see the foxglove garden and tour 3 floors of the home. Joseph Lombardi, an architect and preservationist purchased the home and has lovingly resorted it over the last 40 years. The home is used by the family on occasion, so you need to purchase tickets for the tour - it is not open to the general public. The docent was very knowledgeable, the tour is 1 hour.

This was the most interesting historical home tour I've ever taken. The docent, Sarah, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The home itself is tastefully done in a historical sense and I was surprised to learn than the owners actually reside there on occasion. The grounds are beautiful and serene. I would recommend this to everyone. It wasn't busy when we were there but I recommend advance ticket purchase. Tours are only at scheduled times.. Best suited for smaller groups. Well worth the fee, IMO.

The Armor- Stiner Octagon House is an amazing look at our past. The house and grounds have been painstakingly revived to it's original condition. Period accurate furnishings throughout the house help you see how the wealthy residents lived 150 years ago.
Try to go on a nice day so you can tour the grounds.
Worth the money if you are a fan of architecture and American history.
